March is an ideal time to visit Vietnam and Thailand, as the weather is warm and pleasant, with average temperatures ranging from the mid-70s to mid-80s Fahrenheit (around 23-30°C). In Vietnam, March marks the end of the dry season in the north and the beginning of the dry season in the south, offering comfortable conditions for exploring the country's stunning landscapes, vibrant cities, and rich cultural heritage. Meanwhile, Thailand in March experiences the tail end of its cool season, with lower humidity and less rainfall, making it perfect for beach activities, island hopping, and outdoor adventures.

Day 3: Easing into Sapa
🍃
Sapa

In the afternoon, enjoy a leisure trip. The drive uphill offers the most spectacular scenset of Fansipan Mount. Just a kilometer out of the town, rose flower farms and later chayote grow on bamboo frames over a vast area. You’ll stop at the magnificent Silver Waterfall before continuing the road trip for some kilometers further to Heaven Gate and Tram Ton Pass. At 2047m above sea level, the Heaven Gate and Tram Ton Pass is the highest mountain pass in Vietnam. From here, enjoy walking around for about half an hour to take in the beautiful scenset of both sides of the Hoang Lien Son Mountain range.

The wind blows strongly, causing the clouds to move constantly. It is the best point to enjoy the breathtaking scenset of both sides of the Fansipan mountain range. Amazingly, the weather is very different on each side: on many days it is foggy and cloudy on one side and sunny and bright on the other.

Leaving the Heaven Gate, the drive back downhill takes about 7 km, where you may stop to take pictures of some lush farms where various vegetables, flowers, fruit trees, and even medicinal plants are grown, keeping this part of Sapa evergreen.

Afternoon Walking Tour

Between the 15th and 19th centuries, Hoi An known then as 'Faifo', was a prosperous trading port, attracting ships from China, Japan, the Netherlands, Portugal and Spain amongst others.

Hoi An's narrow lanes are ideal for a guided walking tour of its many atmospheric sights including: old merchant houses with influences from Chinese, Japanese and Vietnamese architecture; the 400-year-old Japanese Covered Bridge (under renovation), first built in the 1590s by the Japanese community to link them with the Chinese quarters across the stream; the Assembly Hall of the Chaozhou Chinese Congregation with its intricate woodcarvings; and the colorful market with stalls brimming with local specialties including silk, which can be turned into fashionable garments within a day or two.

The pretty Lantern Market is located in An Hoi which is across the river from central Hoi An. This is one of the most scenic markets in Vietnam and you will have the opportunity to experience crafting lanterns with your own hands.

Thailand

Thailand, widely considered as the gateway of Southeast Asia. Cosmopolitan Bangkok is where most journeys begin, but head north to savor the country’s culinary center or south to islands that can only be described as ethereal. Regardless of where you visit, visitors never fail to be dazzled by Thailand’s masterpiece temples, fragrant cuisine, vibrant nightlife, and sprawling outdoor markets.

🍡
5;00pm Street Eats by Tuk Tuk

Hop into one of Thailand’s most iconic modes of transport, the Tuk Tuk, and ride through some of Bangkok’s coolest, and tastiest, neighbourhoods. You’ll kick off with a departure from your hotel by private Tuk Tuk in the early evening. Whip through the streets of Bangkok on the way to sample a few popular local dishes and street side snacks.

The first stop will be Bangrak, a trendy district just a short distance from the Chao Phraya River. Spend some time exploring the Bangrak Bazaar and the surrounding streets as your guide introduces you to some more tasty treats.

Chinatown is the next stop on the list, a chaotic community that is well known for its delicious street-side food stalls. The first stop here will be exploring Chinatown’s Yaowarat Road, a highlight of the city famed for the spectacular array of street food hawkers. Finally, we’ll diverge onto Chinatown’s Soi Nana and Maitri Chit Road, home to an eclectic mix of cafes and hip bars. We’ll explore some more unique flavours and street food treats throughout Chinatown before ending the journey with a couple of options.

Families with children may prefer to go and sample some delicious dessert stalls offering freshly made soy milk and sweet dumplings, while adult groups may wish to pay a visit to a trendy hangout (at their own expense). This establishment offers Thai xylophones and cymbals, Thai tapas and cocktails with names borne from ancient Thai lore. Dine on tapas which is served a-la-carte – we recommend the moo sarong (pork balls wrapped in yellow noodle and fried) and the Khao Kriab wow (rice cracker served with chilli paste). For friskier travellers, try a shot of Ya Dong (Thai moonshine infused with herbs).

The trip will end around 9 pm, but you have the option to hang around. Should you choose to stay later, your guide can give you advice and directions on how to return to the hotel.

Please Note: The above routing is subject to change. We can tailor the routing based on your interests and particular preferences.

Day 11: Exploring Bangkok
🇹🇭
Gateway to Bangkok

This morning, you’ll be met at your hotel by your expert local guide, ready to head out and get your first taste of Thailand. Our first stop is the Grand Palace, a majestic complex that served as the residence of the Kings of Thailand for over two centuries. Marvel at the intricate design and craftsmanship of the buildings, walls, and gardens, the intricately detailed murals, and learn about the history and significance of this impressive landmark.

Next, we’ll hop on a tuk-tuk for a short, but exciting ride to Wat Pho, one of the oldest and largest temples in Bangkok. Famous for its reclining Buddha statue, Wat Pho is also home to numerous other Buddha images, impressive architecture, and beautiful murals. Take your time to explore the temple grounds and soak in the peaceful atmosphere.

After we have finished exploring Wat Pho, we’ll make a short journey over to Wat Prayun, a lesser-known but equally impressive temple complex, built during the reign of King Rama III in the 19th-century, which boasts a unique stupa design and serene atmosphere. The temple is located on the banks of the Chao Phraya River, offering stunning views across the water and surrounding areas.

Following this, we’ll take a quick break from sightseeing to enjoy a delicious Thai lunch at a local restaurant.

Next, it’s time to try a different mode of transport as we take a short longtail boat ride through the khlongs (canals) of Bangkok. This is a great way to experience the local way of life, see traditional wooden houses and local shops, and escape the hustle and bustle of the city for a while.

Our final stop will be the Mahanakorn Tower, one of Bangkok’s tallest skyscrapers. More intrepid travellers may wish to step out on the glass-floored observation deck and skywalk located on the 74th floor. From here, you can enjoy panoramic views of the city and take in the stunning sunset scenery.

This day out in Bangkok offers a perfect mix of history, culture, relaxation, and adventure and is a great way to experience the best of Bangkok in a day.
