🌄
Authentic Thai Living

Optional Morning Activity

In the morning, enjoy a fantastic culinary experience that encompasses the whole process, from farm to table, expertly guided by the host chef.

Join the chef in their haven of tranquillity in the countryside of Chiang Mai. The restaurant and adjacent farm are situated in a quiet, forested area in the lush northern Thai countryside – a spectacular location to cook and celebrate Thai food.

The class starts with a consultation session as the chef asks travellers about their preferences, questioning their tastes and collaborating to work out the menu for the day. Whether you like intriguing, coconut-based curries, spicy papaya salads, or know your way around a Thai laab dish, this culinary master has the skills to make these dishes come alive.

Once this has been decided, head out into the garden to pick ingredients, from spices and herbs to fresh vegetables and fruits. All produce is organically grown, and anything on the menu that is not grown on-site is locally sourced from other nearby farmers. While selecting the fresh ingredients, there’ll be the opportunity to learn a little about the chef’s farming process, how they maintain the garden, and of the vital part that these fresh ingredients play in Thai cuisine.

Next, it’s on into the kitchen to set about preparing and cooking the tasty, wholesome meals. As a natural and patient teacher, guests are guided every step of the way. The chef is undoubtedly handy with some helpful hints, leaning on years of experience mastering their way around a wide range of Thai dishes.

There is even an arts and crafts area for kids to play in, where they can lollop and exert their energy, so they will be entertained while guests master their dishes.

Of course, the highlight of any cooking class is finally getting to sit down and enjoy a feast. With the locally-sourced, fresh organic ingredients contributing to Thai dishes famously packed with flavour and spice, guests are in for a real treat.

In the afternoon, get to know a local Thai family as guests in their home on this half-day excursion.

Thailand is known as the land of smiles for good reason as the locals have a well-earned reputation for their warm and welcoming hospitality. Experience this first hand by visiting a family home to the south of Chiang Mai’s old city in the district of Hang Dong.

We’ll visit a traditional Lanna family residence, this home has been a part of their heritage for more than 150 years. Their house and rice barn are typical examples of the northern Thai style.

As friendly, knowledgeable, and charismatic hosts, they’ll welcome guests into their life and invite any questions you may have, so embrace this opportunity to learn about the Lanna way of life.
