Fishing

  • Bristol Bay fishing revolves around the epicenter of the world’s largest salmon run, and Lake Clark plays a pivotal role as one of its key headwaters. In 2023, a staggering 53 million sockeye salmon undertook their migration from the ocean, navigating into the freshwater lakes and tributaries of Lake Iliamna for spawning. Lake Clark Lodge strategically situates itself, providing direct and indirect access to a diverse array of fisheries along the renowned salmon highway.

Accessible only by plane or boat, the Lake Clark National Park trail system, found on the Lake National Park Map, represents a mix of dense forests, alpine meadows, towering mountains and tundra. Whether you’re a novice or experienced trekker, a suitable experience will be provided.

Kayaking/SUP

  • Kayaking stands out as not only one of the most exciting but effective means to explore Lake Clark. From the lodge, a variety of paddling routes are available, including the North side of Keye’s Point. Positioned adjacent to the prevailing wind direction, our location offers optimal paddling conditions even on the roughest weather days.
  • Our lodge also has a small fleet of SUP’s or Stand Up Paddleboards. Whether you are a beginner learning to stand up on a paddle board for the first time or an expert you will have access to a variety of boards and equipment to get your ready for Lake Clarks cold water. Take one out after your flightseeing trip, or before you eat breakfast. The choice is yours!

Katmai National Park was established in 1918 and is roughly 50 miles from Lake Clark National Park. It’s known for its dense brown bear population and world renown site at Brooks Falls. Dedicated bear viewing platforms provide a secure and unobtrusive vantage point, allowing observers to witness bears fishing in their natural habitat.

This location offers a captivating spectacle as brown bears skillfully catch salmon leaping up the falls. For wildlife photographers, capturing this moment should undoubtedly be on their bucket list. As you prepare for your journey, you have the opportunity to observe these bears live through the park service webcams, adding an exciting preview to your upcoming adventure.
