Jazz and New Orleans are synonymous. You can't have one without the other. With your ambassador, you'll learn about the history of this eclectic city as well as jazz and how they are both so intertwined.
This evening, enjoy VIP tickets for a performance by the hallowed Preservation Hall Jazz Band.
Preservation Hall, located in the heart of the French Quarter in New Orleans, is an iconic venue that presents acoustic New Orleans Jazz concerts more than 360 nights a year. Originally an art gallery in the 1950s, the venue transformed into a jazz haven after the owner began inviting local jazz musicians to play “rehearsal sessions.” These informal performances quickly grew popular, drawing the attention of individuals who ultimately took over and established Preservation Hall as a permanent space for traditional jazz. Over time, it became a symbol of New Orleans' cultural heritage and a place where racially integrated bands performed during the segregation era.
Under the leadership of an individual, the venue's reputation grew, and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band was formed in 1963, embarking on tours to spread New Orleans Jazz beyond the city. These efforts brought the music to international audiences, from the United States to Japan and even the palace of the King of Thailand. After the individual’s passing in 1987, their son continued the family’s mission, keeping the spirit of Preservation Hall alive and ensuring that the tradition of New Orleans Jazz thrives today.
While Preservation Hall undergoes necessary renovations, nightly performances will be held at the historic Toulouse Theatre.

While walking through the French Quarter, it's never a bad idea to stop by the famous Café du Monde for a bag of their famous Beignets!
The original Cafe Du Monde Coffee Stand was established in 1862 in the New Orleans French Market. The Cafe is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It closes only on Christmas Day and on the day an occasional Hurricane passes too close to New Orleans.
The original Cafe Du Monde is a traditional coffee shop. Its menu consists of dark roasted Coffee and Chicory, Beignets, White and Chocolate Milk, and fresh squeezed Orange Juice. The coffee is served Black or Au Lait. Au Lait means that it is mixed half and half with hot milk. Beignets are square French -style doughnuts, lavishly covered with powdered sugar.
Please note that this is a cash-only establishment!
Bars in the French Quarter can definitely be touristy and this will be virtually impossible to escape over the New Year's holiday. If we had to recommend a single bar to stop in while navigating the French Quarter, it would have to be Lafitte's Blacksmith Shop Bar. It’s not every day that you get to drink in a bar that's 300 years old in the United States, not to mention it's one of very few piano bars in New Orleans.
