Our Mountain Tents are 10'x12' on a permanent wood floor with a covered porch nestled in the forest with views of the mountain tops a short walk to the facilities and car. Glamping tents accommodate up to two people with a queen-size bed. Bedding includes plenty of blankets with a down comforter to keep you warm at night. Two cushioned rocking chairs on the deck are provided for you to relax and enjoy the views.

Hiking boots that come over the back of your ankle are perfect for our treks and hikes. If you don’t own them, we have some boots available for complimentary loan. Our micro-spikes can fit sizes from children's size 13 through adult men's size 14.

The Alaska Railroad's flagship train. Enjoy the 8-hour journey north to Denali. Along the way, the Denali Star stops in Wasilla, Talkeetna and Denali National Park. On a clear day, passengers enjoy spectacular views of the train's namesake mountain: Denali, the tallest peak in North America. On your journey, enjoy our Adventure Class cars, which offer comfortable seating and large picture windows. Adventure Class guests are encouraged to travel between railcars, whether to take advantage of the open seating in our Vista Dome cars or visit the Wilderness Café.

  • Check in an hour before departure time at the Anchorage rail depot. 411 West First Ave, Anchorage, AK 99501 inside the rail depot.

  • Transportation Duration: Approximately 7.5 hours, departing Anchorage in the morning and arriving in Denali in the afternoon.
  • Luggage: Check in luggage under the white tent next to the rail depot. The Alaska Railroad Representative will tag your bag to your destination. There are no overhead nor under seat storage, so any items brought onboard will be in your lap. It is best to bring a small handbag and check any other luggage.
  • Dining: On Goldstar service, you will be enjoying your meal on the lower level of your rail car. On your journey from Anchorage to Denali you will receive breakfast and lunch. Also included in Goldstar are all soft beverages and two alcoholic beverages; at any time during your journey you can get a beverage from the bar attendant at the back of the car on the upper level.

  • Goldstar has the glass dome seating railcars so you can see all around you.

During your guided and narrated 100+ mile round trip excursion, there are opportunities to see Denali and wildlife (weather permitting). New, 4-door, 4X4 Jeeps hug the dirt road, while comfortably seating four adults who can trade off driving.

Each Jeep has a CB radio for communicating with the guide so stops can be made whenever desired. As driving the Denali Highway is prohibited by most rental vehicle companies, this exclusive excursion provides access to more of Alaska's spectacular scenery and wildlife.

Day 5: Denali ATV Adventure

From Basecamp, enjoy these amazing experiences in the Denali Region.

Get out and ride in the Alaskan Boreal Forest! Traveling at speeds up to 30 mph, maneuver through the taiga to picturesque panoramas of the Alaska Range. Observe glacial moraines and historic archaeological dig sites while navigating tree-rutted trails, mountain-fed creek beds, and boggy tundra. Spend more time riding on the trail than any other Denali area off-road adventure tour. You may learn how to make fireweed tea, leave with a blueberry smile, or even chat about survival. Periodic stops are made for photography and wildlife sightings. Tackle the terrain in a single-rider ATV or share the thrill in a multi-passenger side-by-side ATV. Trails are challenging for all experience levels.

  • Pick Up: Morning at Denali Cabins, Mile 229 George Parks Highway
  • Supplier Confirmation: will be provided
  • Tour Duration: Approximately 3.5 hours from shuttle pick up to drop off and 2.5 hours on the ATV trails. You will cover approximately 20 miles.
  • What to Wear: Dress appropriately for the weather. Wear layers and comfortable clothing. Long pants, long sleeves and a jacket/rain jacket are highly recommended. Closed toed shoes (boots or sneakers) are mandatory. There is always a possibility of getting dusty, wet or muddy, wear clothes that can get dirty.
  • What is Provided: The ATV, a helmet, goggles and gloves.


Important Information:

  • Must have and present driver’s license to the tour operator if you are going to drive an ATV. A driver’s permit is not a valid driver’s license.

Day 6: Flightseeing and Dog Sledding

Enjoy the comfort and views from your window seat on our twin-engine plane. You'll see braided rivers, wildly colorful ridgelines and velvety tundra-covered valleys as you climb toward pristine snow-covered peaks and tumbling icefalls. As you near Denali, you will thread between snowy alpine peaks, such as Mt. Mather, Silverthrone and Mt. Huntington. You'll be flying at an optimal altitude that will give you the best perspective of the sheer size of the mountains of the Denali Massif.

  • Pick Up: Morning Denali Cabins, Mile 229 George Parks Highway
  • What to bring: Sunglasses and camera to get amazing aerial views from your flight. No purses or bags per FAA rules

  • Each guest must give their weight for the safety of the flight.
  • Due to weather your flight could be delayed or altered. Denali Air will contact you or inform you on the day of your tour.
  • Large purses or carry-on bags are not permitted on the aircraft due to FAA regulations. They have a designated area in their office to store bags during flights.
