For the journey and the destination

Scotland is one of those rare places where old traditions and history really feel alive, and the landscapes are quite something too: a mix of ancient castles, rolling hills, mysterious lochs, and dramatic mountain trails for hundreds of miles. Outdoor enthusiasts will love the wild rolling scenery, while romantics will fall for its dramatic history.

If you want to experience Scotland with a healthy dose of old-fashioned charm, nothing beats The Royal Scotsman. This luxury passenger train has been in service for over 30 years, while the decor is straight out of an Agatha Christie novel, with mahogany-clad cars, Edwardian elegance, and all the comforts of a sumptuous country house.

A class of its own

The train is arranged into ten luxurious carriages, so you can soak up the spectacular scenery of the Scottish Highlands while sitting in a comfortable armchair while sipping a glass of champagne – or a rare old Scottish Single Malt.

From April to October, the Royal Scotsman sets off on journeys lasting between three and eight days, taking in the country's wild side and visiting iconic sites like Loch Lomond, Ben Nevis, the Isle of Bute, and Mount Stuart. Historical sites are also on the itinerary, like Ballindalloch Castle, Morar Sands, and Glaims Castle.
