For safari, we recommend layering your clothing. Game drives take place early morning and evenings and it is quite cold before the sun rises and after it sets. The day-time temperatures can be warm and sunny and it can get quite hot. Light, natural fabrics like cotton and linen are recommended for during the day (shorts, t-shirts, summer dresses around the lodge) and in the evenings, layer up with long trousers, long sleeve vests and a warm jacket. Formal wear is not required at any of our lodges – you are free to come straight from game drive into dinner.
We recommend neutral tones and light colors. Certain colors, like black and navy blue attract Tsetse flies in East Africa and dark colors attract the heat. Neutral colours are advised. Avoid white/bright colours for bush walks. Laundry is done complimentary at the lodges, so that is one less thing to worry about as well and will help with packing lightly.
Currently, travelers with US passports require Visas for Tanzania. For nationalities that are required to obtain a Visa on arrival, we recommend obtaining your Visa in advance to avoid delays on arrival at the airport. A return ticket must be produced on arrival in Tanzania. Passports must be valid for six months after the date of travel, and two blank pages in your passport are required. Proof of sufficient funds for your stay must be presented on arrival in Tanzania.
Please be aware that Kilimanjaro International Airport has recently changed the process of issuing Visas on arrival. The new process involves travelers standing in multiple queues, significantly increasing arrival processing time; some travelers have experienced delays of over two hours. We strongly encourage all travelers flying into Kilimanjaro to obtain their Visa online in advance. E-Visas typically take 2–3 weeks to be issued.
Always check the most recent regulations with your nearest Tanzanian High Commission or Embassy before traveling. Further details are available on the Tanzania Ministry of Home Affairs website.
Malaria is prevalent in Tanzania and we recommend taking anti-malarial tablets.
The most important defenses against malaria are:
A yellow fever vaccination is no longer required when entering Tanzania or Zanzibar but a vaccination certificate will be needed if you are entering Tanzania from a country where yellow fever is endemic, including Kenya and Ethiopia. You must get the vaccination 10 days before arrival and it lasts for a lifetime.
Always check the latest recommendations with your travel clinic or doctor. We do not recommend drinking the tap water in Tanzania and advise that you drink bottled water.
PRE-DEPARTURE REQUIREMENTS:
ON ARRIVAL:
Check-in is one and a half hours before departure for domestic flights and three hours before departure for international flights.
Some scheduled regional and inter-lodge flights may involve multiple stops before reaching the final destination. Many flights are operated as air shuttle transfers and therefore departure times may vary by up to one hour.
When traveling on normal scheduled international flights, the luggage limit is usually 20kgs (approx. 44 lbs.) per person.

Please remember:
Tipping during your holiday is not compulsory. If, however, you want to tip because you have received good service, we have enclosed a brief guideline to assist you:
Currency: We advise clients to take spending money in the form of US Dollar cash, as this is favored on most excursions for tips, drinks and curios. Credit cards are generally accepted at hotels, lodges and a few safari camps. The Vat rate is currently 18%.
Transfers: We recommend about US$10 per transfer for the driver per movement.
Touring (excluding Camp/Game Lodge) Driver and/or Guides: For half day tours we recommend about US$20 and for a full day tour we recommend US$30 per day.
Safari Guides/Trackers at Game Lodges: We recommend US$40 per room per day for the guide and US$20 per room per day for the tracker.
Porterage: We recommend about US$5 per guest per movement.
Hotel/Guest House/Game Lodge Staff: We recommend about US$40 per room per day for hotel staff i.e. housekeeping, etc. In some instances where you are allocated a butler or dedicated waiter for the duration of your stay at a specific property, you could tip about UD$20 per room per day.
Restaurants/Hotels: 10 - 15% is customary on meal accounts if you are satisfied with the service. For bigger groups of 10 people or more, some restaurants charge a mandatory service fee to the final bill.
English and Swahili are the official languages spoken by most Tanzanians. Many ethnic groups speak localized dialects and their own languages. Swahili is a happy, lyrical language and you will be greeted everywhere you go, eliciting delighted smiles if you reply in Swahili.
Swahili greetings:
Upon arrival, you will disembark the aircraft and go through the health department temperature screening and hand sanitation before entering the arrival gates.
At the arrival gate, you will be met by a dedicated host and welcomed to Tanzania. You will then be assisted throughout the immigration process including filling out the new health surveillance form.
On this form, you will need to provide information on where you will be staying during your stay. You can use the below addresses:
After immigration, your host will assist in collecting luggage with a dedicated porter and proceed through customs. You will then be escorted and handed over to your designated driver.
Receive a private transfer from Kilimanjaro International Airport to a lodge in Arusha for check-in.
Arusha is located at the foothills of Mount Meru on the eastern side of the Great Rift Valley. This is the gateway to the northern safari circuit, with easy access to the Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Lake Manyara, Tarangire, Mount Kilimanjaro, and Mount Meru. Its elevation of 1,400 m (4,600 ft) keeps temperatures relatively cool despite proximity to the equator; temperatures generally range between 10 and 30 C (50 and 86F), with little humidity due to the altitude.
Most Tanzania safaris either start or end in the gateway city of Arusha, and there are few better options to bookend your trip than the Legendary Lodge. Guided nature walks and tours of the surrounding coffee plantation hype guests up before their safari, while a restorative massage at the spa or an afternoon nap in your private cottage is the perfect way to wind down afterward.

The Serengeti is perhaps the most famous African wilderness area, its name synonymous with the notion of safari for nearly a hundred years. This UNESCO World Heritage site covers 14,750 km2 (5,700 mi2) of premiere game viewing in Acacia woodlands, open grasslands, and undulating savannah interspersed with seasonal rivers. The park on the northern side borders the Maasai Mara National Reserve in Kenya and, together with several other smaller reserves and conservation areas, forms the larger Mara-Serengeti ecosystem. Stretching all the way to Lake Victoria, the Western Corridor is characterized by the quintessential safari landscape — open plains dotted with the occasional tree, although there are also beautiful riverine woodlands and some thicker bush areas. There is a good population of cats and general game all year round.
Mila Tented Camp is perched above a collection of five natural springs on a ridge of granite kopjes and set amongst an acacia woodland in the remote and sought-after region of Nyasirori, in the western corridor of the great Serengeti. With five tented rooms and a two-bedroomed family tent, Mila Tented Camp draws inspiration from the Hadzabe, who are known for their honey. This is reflected in the natural linens, textiles, and color which blend into the environment and welcome travelers to soak up the beautiful surroundings, both inside and out.
Luxury Tent
Take the next few days to relax in your luxurious accommodations at Mila Tented Camp. Guests staying at Mila Tented Camp are allocated a private vehicle and guide per booking and can venture off the beaten track into one of the Serengeti’s best kept secrets.
After a morning game drive, depart on your scheduled flight from Grumeti Airstrip to the Kogatende Airstrip.
You will be informed of the departure time for this flight the day prior by the lodge staff.
This photographer’s paradise is one of the best places in Africa to view the big cats as well as an amazing array of plains game. The northern Serengeti has the classic big open plains of the African savannah, sprawling views, and consistently delivers excellent wildlife sightings. It is one of the best places in East Africa for leopards, and the kopje strewn hillsides that are home to these elusive creatures are in themselves stunningly beautiful. A few days here can be very action packed and there’s even chances to see black rhinos in some areas.
The classic design of the camp has been adapted to complement the environment. The natural linen and earthy colors reflect the tranquility and peace of the Serengeti, allowing you to feel connected to your surroundings as you follow the ever-moving migration. There is also always the option to take an entire camp to yourselves. Songa Tented Camp is pitched as a split camp whereby one side of the camp will have 6 tents and the other side will have 2 tents and the family tent. Each half of the camp faces in a different direction and is fully contained with its own lounge and dining facility, using natural habitat to ensure maximum privacy for each camp.

Just a short flight from the Tanzania mainland lies the idyllic Indian Ocean archipelago of Zanzibar. There is also endemic wildlife in the Johazi Forest.

There is no better place to experience the magic of Zanzibar than at Breezes... the ultimate retreat for those looking to get away from it all.

Breezes supports a local sea turtle rescue program that works in tandem with local fishermen. The fishermen are rewarded for not fishing with the nets responsible for ensnaring turtles. They also work to rehabilitate those turtles that have suffered from coastal plastic contamination. Exceptionally worthwhile, the project also offers turtle nest protection and supervision of baby turtles on their first journey from nest to sea. Every visit also includes a trip to the Sea Turtle lagoon, which acts as rehabilitation space for young or damaged sea turtles and a chance to join the ‘Trash to Treasures’ creative recycling/up-cycling project. Operating in tandem with the action group, World Unite, and the local community, this project is committed to transforming the island’s plastic refuse into useful commodities such as building materials.

Join Breezes' experienced Zanzibar seafaring crew as they sail down to the mangrove swamps of Mchamvi and around the local peninsula. Breezes has their own dhow, which is used for snorkeling trips, island exploration and magical moonlit dinners alike. Blown by the monsoon winds, dhows have plied the Arabian coast for centuries, typically carrying dates and fish to East Africa and mangrove timber to the lands of the Persian Gulf. Dhows are one of the most magical sights of the Swahili Coast. One of the most ancient ships in the world, they scenset in India between 600 BC and 600 AD before being adopted by the Omanis who brought them to Zanzibar.
