Your Mediterranean Honeymoon Trip

There’s something familiar about Spain that draws visitors, who maybe remember a few phrases of high school Spanish or harbor a vague curiosity of bullfighting or siestas. But it’s the staggering diversity—of cultures, languages, cuisines, and landscapes—that keeps travelers coming back again and again. Every barrio and pueblo offers something unique, and the Spain you thought you knew is suddenly full of surprises.

Mallorca

Mallorca is an island fit for royalty—literally—since the 14th-century palace looming over the capital is still an official residence for Spain’s king and queen. Outside of the medieval walls, the rest of the city has been updated with some of the chicest restaurants, bars, and shopping in the Mediterranean, but the turquoise water and seaside cliffs of Mallorca’s beaches are still just as heavenly as they were centuries ago.

Time at Leisure

For your first day in Mallorca, arrive at your hotel and enjoy the privacy of your suite as you recuperate from your journey.

Enjoy the rest of the afternoon to relax at your own pace.

19:00 - Dinner at Maricel

The Best Tapas Bars in Palma

Discover the top culinary experiences in Palma with these ten must-visit spots for tapas and more.

  • Starting at the Mercat de Santa Catalina, Can Joan Frau is a market stall that locals love for its classic tapas and bustling atmosphere. It's a real feat to find a seat inside, but definitely worth it during market hours.
  • Bar España is a central space that's been a classic in the world of tapas palmesanas for years. With a modern twist on traditional dishes, it's the perfect spot for an evening snack or Friday and Saturday afternoon drinks. Reservations are available, and the artisanal beers are a real luxury.
  • Bar Rita isn't exactly a tapas bar, but it's famous for its delicious llonguets, a traditional bread roll from Palma. The outdoor terrace in Plaza Llorenç Bisbal is the most authentic spot in the city during summer evenings.
  • Bodega La Rambla is on La Rambla, but it's still a classic among the classics. Serving up the best variats in town—a Mallorca speciality—in a lovely setting, it's open for lunch and dinner.
  • Bar d'es Peix is just one of the many gastronomical options in the Mercat de l'Olivar, but take your pick from the many incredible food stalls.
  • Bar Bosch is a classic in Palma with its iconic outdoor terrace in Plaza Joan Carles I. They've added variats to the menu in recent years, and while some consider it a spot for tourists, their famous llagostes (a sandwich made with llonguet) are a must-try.
  • For a younger vibe, head to BeeWi, a restaurant that prepares high-quality tapas and dishes, along with their own artisanal beer, and reservations are available.
  • Gaudeix is a classic tapas restaurant in a very central location on C/ Sant Felio. High-quality food in a lovely setting with a small terrace, it's open for lunch and dinner with reservations available.
  • Vermutería La Rosa and La Rosa Chica is the latest trend in Palma, with two bars offering a wide range of maritime cuisine, a variety of vermouths, and authentic settings. One is located in Pza. Weyler and the other in C/ Monseñor Palmer.
  • Lastly, El Chaflan de Patxi is an excellent restaurant with outstanding classic tapas bars. With a long history and discerning clientele, it is located on C/ Espartero. Open for lunch and dinner.

Your Stay: Hospes Maricel

Why we love it for you: Simply known as “the Palace” by those who stay there, Hospes Maricel is more akin to an oasis within the city around it. It’s on the outskirts of Palma with easy access to the city center, but all of that seems so far away once you enter the Palace doors. Like a genuine hideaway, the stone walls block out any would-be outside disturbances so you can totally lose yourself in the hammam-style spa, a plate of local seafood, or in the cerulean waters of the Mediterranean.

Recommendation: Son Sureda Ric Winery

Meet an accomplished individual for a cool drink on the grounds of their 15th-century winery, Son Sureda Ric. Tour the estate first acquired by their grandfather, one of the first ‘green farmers’ on the island.

Your tour ends in the charming stone-clad courtyard followed by lunch and local wines. You’ll then be treated to a mesmerising bossa nova performance with the individual on guitar and their talented spouse on vocals.

You can book this experience with Belmond La Residence directly with concierge.
