It’s clear from the moment you step foot in Barcelona that it’s unlike any other Spanish city. The boulevards are wider, the architecture is quirkier, and, if you have an ear for languages, you may hear that the locals are speaking Catalan, not Spanish. An architect's masterpiece, the Sagrada Familia, is just one of his architectural gems scattered about the city. With something to offer art enthusiasts, adventurous foodies, and beach loungers, it’s no wonder that Barcelona is one of Europe’s top destinations.
Meet your guide in the lobby and enjoy a panoramic tour of Barcelona, passing through Plaza España, where the second university exhibition took place in 1929. Go up to Montjuic to see the Olympic facilities. Stop at the Joan Miró Foundation for a guided tour of contemporary art.
The Fundació Joan Miró was created by Joan Miró himself, at first principally with works from his own private collection, with a desire to set up an internationally recognized centre in Barcelona for Miró scholarship and contemporary art research, and to disseminate the collection. The Fundació opened to the public on 10 June 1975 and has since become a dynamic centre in which Joan Miró’s work coexists with cutting-edge contemporary art.
End your panoramic tour in the old town, near Santa Maria del Mar to have some tapas before arriving at the hotel.
