Tipping is always appreciated, though not obligatory. For drivers, we generally suggest a tip depending on the duration of the transfer. For guides, we recommend a tip for half day experiences or a tip for full day experiences.
In many restaurants a service charge is included in the bill, and tips, while appreciated, are not required. Tips, when given, tend to be 5 to 10% of the bill. In a café or tapas bar normally only a few coins (under 1€) are left.
Mallorca is an island fit for royalty—literally—since the 14th-century palace looming over the capital is still an official residence for Spain’s king and queen. Outside of the medieval walls, the rest of the city has been updated with some of the chicest restaurants, bars, and shopping in the Mediterranean, but the turquoise water and seaside cliffs of Mallorca’s beaches are still just as heavenly as they were centuries ago.
At Hospes Maricel & Spa, sea and sky come together in this privileged Mallorcan location. Here, you will enjoy a stay filled with the color blue and the salty breeze in the two buildings that make up the hotel: the Palace Building, a stately construction inspired by the style of the 16th and 17th centuries; and the Natura Building, with an avant-garde style and noble construction materials.

Rising in honey-colored stone from the broad waters of the Badia de Palma, this enduring city dates back to the 13th-century Christian reconquest of the island, and to the Moors, Romans and Talayotic people before that. A richly studded diadem of historical sites, Palma also shelters a seemingly endless array of galleries, restaurants, craft studios and bars – it's without doubt Mallorca's greatest treasure. Wander in any direction from the awe-inspiring Gothic Catedral at its geographic and historical heart and you'll find bent medieval streets lined with aristocratic townhouses, looming baroque churches, teeming public squares, vibrant bohemian neighborhoods and markets overflowing with all the bounty of the island.
The historic tramway in Sóller has a peculiarity that makes it special compared to other urban streetcars: it joins the mountain and sea in a half hour trip, from the valley in the heart of the Serra with the port and the beach. It's a wooden 1900's style wagon, offering not only an experience back in time but some of the most beautiful views of the island.
Why not spend some time exploring the medieval town of Sóller where you can explore tiny streets filled with boutiques, bars and eateries. Indulge your taste buds at a local bistro to experience some "mar y montana" (sea and mountain) specialties.
The second-biggest Portuguese city is in the midst of a travel renaissance, with an uptick of tourists also bringing new restaurants, bars, cafes, and cultural events. But in a rare instance of having your pastel de nata and eating it too, Porto hasn’t lost its soul that made it so attractive in the first place. The brightly colored buildings, lazy lunches, and riverside wine bars are an ingrained way of life in Porto and simply too good to give up.
Occupying a neoclassical building in the heart of Porto, a hotel from French group Maison Albar Hotels, channels Thirties Paris with its dazzling art-deco design, modish brasserie and rakish cocktail lounge. Stepping inside this decadent hotel feels akin to finding the Lost Generation – as soon as you pass through the art-nouveau entrance, you’re surrounded by Portugese marble, golden lamps and carpets embellished with bold patterns. Upstairs, you’ll bed down in rooms dressed with lacquered furniture, pastel fabrics and vast decorative-edged mirrors. Downstairs, choose from an elegant all-day brasserie or a fine-dining restaurant, where choice Portugese ingredients are prepared with Gallic flair. After dark, find your poison at low-lit Bar Americain, confident that rejuvenation can be found at the luxurious spa.

It began in 2015, with a passion for the natural black beaches along the picturesque northern coast of São Miguel in the Azores: the unique, almost magical, green pastures and mountain hues that contrast with the azure blue oceans are the ideal backdrop for a calming resort retreat. It was here, overlooking the grand beach of Santa Barbara, that the Azores’ first ecologically-friendly eco-beach resort was opened. Their inviting natural coastal landscape, the elegance of their modern luxury spaces and their commitment to a full-range of experiences epitomizes their passion for the art of hospitality, nature and, above all, the Azores.
