☀️
Weather

Although Singapore is a year-round destination, the best time to visit Singapore is from December to June. The months of February to April fall within Singapore's dry season and is typically when the country has the least amount of rain, the lowest humidity, and the most sunshine.

👚
What to wear
  • T-Shirts and Summer Clothing: Singapore is hot and humid all year, meaning you’ll want to dress for summer weather. Cotton t-shirts, shorts and other clothing made using lightweight, breathable fabric is the way to go.
  • Shoes: Singapore is a highly developed country, meaning you won’t need to pack any heavy-duty footwear unless you plan hiking. Any casual shoes will keep your feet comfortable in Singapore’s urban areas, while lightweight hiking shoes are ideal for walking the Macritchie Nature Trail.
  • Swimwear: If your hotel has a swimming pool or you plan on visiting the beaches or water park at Sentosa Island, pack a swimsuit.
  • Dressy Clothes: Many of Singapore’s rooftop bars and upmarket restaurants have dress codes, meaning you’ll want to pack a set of semi-formal clothes if you plan on enjoying a classy night out. For men, a button-down shirt with trousers and leather shoes is adequate. For women, smart casual dress is more than enough for most of Singapore’s restaurants, bars and clubs.
🎒
What to pack

In addition to your clothing, we recommend to pack the following:

  • Very comfortable walking shoes
  • Hats that shade your face from the sun
  • A light scarf or shawl to cover shoulders (both for entering religious sites and to protect from the sun)
  • Sunscreen
  • Sunglasses and contact lenses if you wear them
  • Moisturizing creams and chapstick
  • Insect repellent with a high percentage of DEET
  • Any prescription glasses
  • Medication

Don't forget your travel adapter and charging devices or phone charges!

💱
Money

The currency in Singapore is the Singapore dollar (SGD).

  • You’ll see the currency written simply using the dollar sign $, or as S$ to differentiate it from other dollar currencies. It’s available in denominations of $, $, $, $ and $.
  • A Singapore dollar is made up of 100 cents, in 5 cent, 10 cent, 20 cent, 50 cent and one dollar coins. Only the 5 cent coin is brass-plated, with the rest being nickel, while the dollar coin is a mix of the two, with a brass outer ring and nickel centre.
  • An agreement between the Singapore and Brunei governments means that the Singapore dollar is also accepted in Brunei and vice versa. So, you can change your Brunei dollars (should you have them) in any Singapore bank, like for like with no charge. Similarly, shops and businesses in Singapore are encouraged to accept the Brunei dollar in place of the Singapore dollar.
  • You can, of course, change your USD currency in Singapore, but you may find it more convenient to change some before travelling.
  • It’s a very safe city, so carrying cash isn’t a problem. You may want to arrive on the island with a moderate amount for the first 24 hours, to take care of taxi fares, tips and the first evening’s meal, then seek out the city’s many ATMs to top up.
  • Your regular debit card for your current account will do the job, but make sure to let your bank know where you are travelling to and when.
  • A Revolut card is a great way to keep local currency on you with a card payment to avoid transaction fees.
