Watersports and Waterfalls – Azores Island Workation

If Iceland and Hawaii were combined into one dream destination, we're sure it would look something like these incredible Atlantic islands.

Azores, Portugal – Staycation in the Atlantic

Full of lush forests, natural thermal pools, and waterfalls, and right next to stylish villas and beach lodges – the main island of Sao Miguel offers the perfect combination for a workation on the Azores.

Where to stay and work

Santa Barbara Eco Beach Resort has sustainable lodges, in front of the best surf break. Whether from your private hot tub, the communal lounge area, patio, or garden, there will always be a view you'll love. This cradle-to-cradle resort has its own farm, built out of cork and run by solar energy, so it's a great experience that comes with a good conscience.

Another option is to stay at Pink House, a former barn and interior haven that comes with wifi, workstations, and an outdoor fire lounge. Local artisans also worked on the furniture in the house.

Both are great places to station yourself for weeks on end. The Azores are at GMT -1, so they're an excellent location for those doing business in the European and U.S Eastern time zones.

Things to do

Sao Miguel is a haven for any ocean enthusiast: surfing the North Shore, embarking on a sailboat for a diving tour, or swimming with dolphins. Enjoy a thermal spa relaxation weekend with hot-water waterfalls, or feast on food prepared under the earth, cooked by the hot springs.

Fresh, fresher, freshest is the motto when it comes to the local cuisine, with its famous Azores' tuna and their volcanic soil fuelled tea plantations and vineyards.
