Construction is believed to have begun here during the reign of Inca Pachacutec in the 15th century. It's said that over 20,000 people moved stones from nearby quarries over 12 miles to the hilltop in Cusco. The methods used by the Incas to build Sacsayhuaman with such large stones remain a mystery, adding to the intrigue of this archaeological site and the Inca civilization.
