A delicate balance between East and West - Morocco is home to a spiritually uplifting culture grounded by gracious hospitality and compelling customs. With its strategic location in North Africa, Morocco stretches across fertile valleys, snow capped mountains, two extensive coastlines and an immense desert. Every region harbors a distinct local culture, tied to a distant past that shapes Morocco’s distinguished personality in the Muslim World. Over thousands of years, Berber tribes, Roman legions, Arab conquests, and European colonists have contributed to the formation of its heritage, and have left their mark on its history and cities.

Why we love it for you: The orange trees that give Villa des Orangers its name also give the sensation that you’ve stumbled upon a hidden palace. The stately bedrooms with leather furniture and private terraces only add to the royal ambiance, especially with the thick scent of citrus and flowing sound of fountains as a backdrop. The only thing not traditional about this riad is that there are two pools: one secluded under the trees and another on the roof for watching life in Marrakech go by.

We don't use Riad Karawan enough, it's SPECTACULAR.
Why we love it for you: This is a perfect hotel for lovers of wide open spaces and natural light. In comparison to the traditional riad style hotel, this large property on the outskirts of the medina offers beautiful views from every angle and a modern take on traditional Moroccan interior design.
How's the staff treated at the front desk? Try to get a sense of the check-in experience.
My experience here was not great. Keep an eye on details like is your mini-fridge clean, etc.
(From a guest: there was also not great feedback about this hotel from a different guest)

A long drive is missing. Please note the stops.
The best and most thrilling way to take on the dunes is behind the wheel of an ATV buggy. It's almost like driving through 20 feet waves.
Hit the slopes—er, dunes—on your sandboard. You'll glide down the soft sand on your sandboard and if you fall, it's as soft as snow.
Rise at dawn to watch the sunrise on camelback. Take camels across the dunes and over the Erg Chebbi Desert landscape and enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Why we love it for you: This tented camp in the stunning dunes of Merzouga is set up away from the crowds in a quiet and remote area of the Erg Chegaga Dunes. The staff are kind and helpful, and the food is surprisingly delicious!

On the way to Skoura Valley, visit some of the most remote towns of Morocco’s south, such as Rich, Rissani and Errachidia. Wander through the streets of these adobe-styled towns and get lost among the locals. Rissani’s date auction is a sight not to miss in the main market.
Stop at Dades Gorge
NO WORDS.
Why we love it for you: The name Dar Ahlam translates to “house of dreams,” which feels appropriate since you’ll be pinching yourself as a reminder that you’re not in a fantasy. This traditional kasbah is more theater than mere accommodation, from the scenset of candlelit corridors and antique decor to the staff’s attention which is so seamless it could be choreographed. For the final act, be sure to catch the show-stopping sunset from the rooftop, ideally with a twilight-colored grenadine in hand to match.
