The official languages in Morocco are Arabic and Berber languages. Most people speak an Arabic dialect, Darija, and the major Berber languages are Tamazight, Tachelhit, Tarifit. Rabat is the capital city of Morocco and oh-so-charming. Start your tour of historical Rabat at the Roman archaeological site Chellah and take in the views of the Bouregreg river. Then, continue your tour towards the Hassan tower and the Mausoleum of Mohammed V. Walk across to the historical medina, which will give you a taste of the shopping experience, before stopping at the Oudaya Kasbah, known as the "little blue city" for its resemblance to Chefchaouen, for the best mint tea in town with sweeping views of the Atlantic!

Drive past remote Berber adobe villages clinging to the mountain sides and stop by the famous UNESCO site Ait Ben Haddou. This is a fortified village (ksar in Arabic) is located along the former caravan route between the Sahara and Marrakesh. Many families still live in this ancient village, which is composed of a dozen kasbahs - or merchants houses and other individual dwellings. The structure is a spectacular feat of earthen clay architecture that is typical of this southern region of Morocco.
