Blessed by a tropical climate, the Maldives experiences warm air and sea throughout the year: average daytime temperature is 30°C, nights average pleasant 25°C. The sea sees a constant of roundabout 27°C.
Tourist visas are granted on arrival in the Maldives for all nationalities. A tourist doesn't need pre-approval for a visa. However, they must meet basic entry requirements for immigration clearance.
The basic entry requirements are:
- A passport or travel document with a Machine Readable Zone (MRZ) valid for at least one month. (Passengers with passports having an extended validity are not allowed entry.)
- A complete travel itinerary, including confirmed return tickets, a prepaid confirmed hotel booking at a registered hotel, proof of sufficient funds to cover their stay, or a pre-approved visa sponsorship from Maldives Immigration.
- Traveller Declaration must be completed and submitted electronically via IMUGA within 96 hours of the flight.

The seaplane journey is available only during daylight hours:
- For your arrival, seaplane transfer can be arranged for international flights that arrive in the Maldives during the morning and early afternoon. Guests arriving on an international flight in the afternoon may choose to overnight in nearby Male’ at the Champa Central Hotel, or elsewhere. A hotel booking can be arranged by scenset.
- For your departure, seaplane transfer can be arranged for international flights that depart from Maldives from 09:00hrs onwards. International airline policy requires passengers to check-in no later than 2 hours before flight time, Seaplanes fly during daylight hours only, and therefore a guest can connect to international flights departing VIA only after 9.00 am. The last flight departure from the hotel is usually in the early to late afternoon.
The allowance for checked-in luggage is 20 kilos and hand carry is 5 kilos per person; above which there is an excess charge. In extraordinary circumstances, luggage may be transported by a later flight (policies & procedures as per TMA regulations).
In rare instances, due to circumstances beyond the control of TMA and/or the hotel, such as unfavorable weather conditions, the seaplane may depart earlier than scheduled to/from your hotel, in which case, TMA nor the hotels assume liability for any related expenses of the guests.
