Furthermore, with 80% of the wildlife and 90% of its plants being endemic, Madagascar is truly unlike any other destination in the world. Enjoy an epic adventure as you explore this incredible island with stops in the diverse capital city to the exotic and biodiverse national parks.

Baobab Alley

Visit the special Baobab Alley at sunset. The trees line the way between Morondava and Belo sur Tsiribihina in the Menabe region in western Madagascar. It was granted temporary protected status, the first step toward making it Madagascar's first natural monument.

Baobab trees, up to 800 years old, known locally as renala (Malagasy for "mother of the forest"), are a legacy of the dense tropical forests that once thrived on Madagascar.

Betania Village

Early this morning, depending on the timing of the tide, we'll depart in a pirogue. We'll pass through traditional dhows navigating across the mangroves to Betania, a small coastal village of Vezo fishermen.

Vezo is the term semi-nomadic coastal people of southern Madagascar use to refer to the people making a living from sea fishing. They go up to 50km away from the shore on their small pirogues without any navigation tools.

If we're lucky, we'll see them arriving back to shore from their early morning catch, and the locals will bargain for the freshest catch of the day.
