Nairobi is the capital of Kenya and East Africa’s most cosmopolitan city, with a vibrant population of 4.5 million. Unique to the city is the proximity of Nairobi National Park, a true wilderness area juxtaposed against the larger urban metropolis. It is the only national park like it in the world and a real embodiment of the human-wildlife conflicts that challenge many African communities who must learn to cohabitate with wildlife on their doorstep.
This 45-suite boutique hotel elevates the standard of luxury for travelers in the region. Beautiful in its symmetry and flooded with natural light, this plantation-style property is airy and spacious.
Each of the suites is at least 80m² and has a private balcony or terrace, overlooking the iconic silhouette of the Ngong Hills.
This view is iconic and can also be enjoyed over sundowners at the bar.
Your dedicated butler will know your preferences, and will remember your preferences for clothing.
So while you are indulging in the spa, relaxing beside the pool or meandering through the gardens, back in your suite, your butler will have dimmed the lights, adjusted your personalized pillows, set out your nightcap and arranged the morning’s outing down to the finest detail.

The History
Founded in 1977 by Dr Dame Daphne Sheldrick DBE, in memory of her late husband, famous naturalist and founding Warden of Tsavo East National Park, David Leslie William Sheldrick MBE, the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust claims a rich and deeply rooted family history in wildlife and conservation.
Since the death of her husband, Daphne, and her family, lived and worked in the Nairobi National Park where they built The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust and its pioneering Orphans’ Project into the global force for wildlife conservation that it is today. Daphne's daughter and her family worked alongside her mother running the Trust for twenty years, and since Daphne’s passing in 2018 continues the mission with passion and vigor ably supported by her husband, their two sons and the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust team.
Nairobi Nursery
The Trust is best known for its work on elephants, and although the Orphans project is the heart and soul of the Trust, the organization has now expanded to veterinary units, anti-poaching units, community projects and the saving habitat initiative.

Lewa is a large private game ranch located 30 miles north of the equator at the foothills of Mt. Kenya, and is home to the world famous Lewa Wildlife Conservancy. There are very few private houses and camps on the reserve so game viewing is as exclusive as it can get. The area is probably one of the best in Africa for viewing rhinos. The reserve not only has Big 5 but the largest population of the rare Grevy’s zebra as well other rare northern species. There are many activities to engage in, including horseback riding, scenic flights, night drives, walking safaris, camel riding, and photographic hides.
The conservancy is a groundbreaking example of conservation in action and community participation. The family who started it has been instrumental in educating and assisting local communities stretching way to the north about the value and benefit of securing land for wildlife. Their approach has included community support projects such as schools, clinics, and water management. Lewa is also the setting for the Lewa Marathon, a notorious run on dirt trails amongst herds of wild animals.
Situated on the edge of one of Kenya’s most private wildlife and environmental conservation projects, the wildlife-rich Lewa provides guests a home-away-from-home experience that’s hard to find these days. When you arrive at Lewa Wilderness, you’ll immediately feel like you’re with family. Just nine exclusive rooms dot the Lewa Wilderness landscape. Five cottages are tucked into the hillside overlooking the Eastern Marania Valley, plus a further four garden cottages that are cozy yet expansive are set amongst the beautiful lawn.
As a guest at Lewa Wilderness, you are automatically supporting the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, renowned both for its pioneering conservation initiatives as well as for its successful community and education programs.

Lewa Wilderness is the hub of all activities on Lewa; there is an endless list of activities on offer, ranging from the traditional game viewing vehicles (we now have two fully electric converted land-cruisers), to guided walks and breathtaking scenic flights with Air Wilderness, to unforgettable horse riding safaris for all ages and levels; there is even camel riding and visits to our organic vegetable garden.
Day trips are available to visit and swim in the rock pools of the Ngare Ndare forest or to learn more about the Maasai culture by visiting the Il Ngwesi community village. When you are not out on an adventure relaxing by the swimming pool offers great game viewing opportunities too!
We are home to over thirty horses of all sizes, ages and abilities. This allows us to offer horse riding to anyone who would like to experience the wildlife from a whole new perspective. For beginner riders, we head out on to the open plains, where the grazing wildlife in the surrounding area is very used to seeing the horses, allowing us to get much closer. For experienced riders, full morning or day rides can be arranged as we have the whole of Lewa Wildlife Conservancy to explore.
Walking in the bush is a magical way to view and appreciate the wildlife, it also allows time to notice all of the small things along the way. Track animal footprints, discover little ecosystems and learn about the wildflowers that grow hidden in the grasses.

At over five hundred square kilometers, the "Mara Triangle," as it is often referred to, is a scenically stunning 'wedge' of mixed habitats - open savannah dotted with Balanites trees, seasonal streams, springs, and marshes that are flanked to the east by the stunning riverine woodland of the Mara River, to the west by the iconic Siria escarpment, and to the south by the 'Lamai wedge' section of the Northern Serengeti.
The Triangle side of the Mara River also boasts great access points from which to view the herds of thousands of zebras and wildebeest that come to cross the crocodile infested waters in the high season.
Other than on the escarpment edge, there are significantly fewer camps and lodges in the 'triangle' than in the main reserve and conservancies.
Step back in time at this award-winning, conservation-led, authentic and luxurious tented camp. One of only eleven designated Global Ecosphere Retreats in the world, chosen for their work toward global sustainability and community support.
Located in the private Olderkesi Conservancy, a wildlife rich conservancy leased from the Maasai community, on the border of the Maasai Mara National Reserve.

Upon arrival in Zanzibar, proceed to the arrivals hall where you will meet a driver for a transfer to the hotel for check-in.
Just a short flight from the Tanzania mainland lies the idyllic Indian Ocean archipelago of Zanzibar. Famous for intoxicating aromas of spices, beautiful white sand beaches, and warm turquoise waters, the heart of the island is undoubtedly Stone Town, a fascinating step back in time with narrow winding streets, Swahili traders and local fisherman, and the daily call to prayer in this predominantly muslim town.
In addition to its fascinating Swahili and Arab history, Zanzibar offers world class scuba diving, snorkeling, fishing and, at certain times of year, kitesurfing. There is also endemic wildlife in the Johazi Forest.
Nicknamed “Spice Island,” Zanzibar was an important part of the slave and ivory trade as a connecting point between the mainland interior and the Middle East. This made some slave traders very wealthy. A walk around the Sultan's Palace is reminiscent of this dark past. More recent pop culture will undoubtedly lead to the doorway of Zanzibar's most famous son, Queen's iconic frontman, Freddie Mercury.
