Feel the summer breeze

Jordan is an extremely diverse country, with strong cultural ties and a rich history, teamed with breathtaking scenery.

In northern Jordan, wedged between the Jordan River and Syria, is where you'll find the country's most calming landscapes. Hiking through the rolling hills, surrounded by pomegranate and walnut trees, olive groves, and grasslands might remind you of a warm summer breeze in Tuscany – until you look out across the Jordan River and see the Palestinian lands resting on the horizon.

Starry night skies

Exploring Jordan can take you to some exceptional places – like the red-sand desert of the Wadi Rum. Climbing the sandstone rock formations that litter the 720 square kilometers bordering Saudi Arabia is an indescribable experience, with some towering 1500 meters high.

In the chilly evenings, you can hang around a campfire, blanketed by a stunning starry sky, getting lost in the thousands of twinkling stars and planets above.

Another hidden gem

Petra is the most well-known stop-off, and for good reason. The fantastic rock formation park is full of historic sites and kilometers of trails and stories to explore. Start early when the heat is not as intense to make the most of the routes.

The deep, rarely-traversed valleys of Jordan are also plentiful. As most visitors head straight for Petra, the hidden Nabataean kingdom is still only accessible through a narrow gorge – tricky to get to but definitely worth the effort.

Feynan Ecolodge

Get ready to wake up early and catch the sunrise. Pack a backpack with enough water and food to last the day, and then start the steep descent into Dana's canyon. Dana's nature reserve is 320 square kilometers of wildlife where only a few Bedouins live, often still in tents. This strenuous hike ends at the bottom of the canyon, where the daytime is sizzling hot and the sunset strikes a golden red color over the surrounding sand and rocks.

Here lies Feynan Ecolodge, an eco jewel that blends seamlessly into this barren landscape. Feynan offers peace and quiet with a sustainable heart, investing in green energy, minimal waste, and involving the local Bedouin community in all its activities.

When night falls, candles are lit throughout the lodge, and pillows are brought out onto the rooftop to watch the thousands of twinkling stars above. The extraordinary setting of the desert is matched with top-notch food – a vegetarian heaven on earth – and freshly brewed Bedouin tea and sweets. In summer you can dine outdoors, and in winter you can curl up on a sofa next to the fireplace.
