Sardinia

Sardinia may be a part of Italy de jure, but separated culturally, linguistically, and physically from the mainland, it feels like its own de facto country. The populated coastline is home to some of the most picturesque and exclusive beaches in the Mediterranean, but the underwater grottos are the island’s dreamiest features. Sardinia’s bucolic past still prevails as you move inland, where sheep outnumber the people and restaurants don’t just serve food but also grow it themselves.

Check into your hotel and settle in. The afternoon is yours to explore the city.

Your Stay: Romazzino, A Belmond Hotel, Costa Smeralda

Why we love it for you: "There is a multitude of fine sandy beaches and no one to walk on them. Green and grey mountains tumble into the sea, a carpet of purple and yellow, red and blue flowers perfume the air.” Attributed to the hotel’s founder in 1964, these words have captured the charismatic soul of the Costa Smeralda for decades – and today, we salute them. At Romazzino, experience the essence of "villeggiatura" anew. Sail along Porto Cervo's emerald sea, indulge in languorous afternoons under olive and pine trees, and embrace the timeless allure of this enchanting destination.

Day 10: Gastronomic Delights

A cooking lesson is not just a cuisine class, it is a complete experience on Sardinian food culture. A fun way to discover and enjoy the island through the local guidance. You will not only use your hands to cook but also learn how to present courses in a beautiful way, and enrich flavors with simple ingredients.

🧑‍🍳
Cooking class

Immerse yourself in the essence of Sardinian cuisine and its traditions that have been handed down for centuries, by learning to prepare its delicacies. Visit an authentic cooking school and prepare a three-course meal while being guided by an expert chef. At the end of the experience, enjoy the mouth-watering meal that you have prepared.

🍅
Sardinian cuisine

The Sardinian cuisine is somewhat variegated and mainly characterized by its island-status and its agropastoral culture, enriched during the centuries throughout contaminations, contacts and trades with other peoples. Varied and simple at the same time it ranges from roasted meats, to the bread tradition, the pecorino cheeses, from the sea and from the land dishes, the game meat, the fishing or the gathering of natural herbs.

It is considered to be an important part of the Mediterranean diet and it was declared masterpiece of the oral and intangible heritage of humanity in 2010 by UNESCO.

Boating through the Costa Smeralda

Have you ever wondered to visit one of the best-kept secrets of Costa Smeralda? Would you like to enjoy lunch on a small island and be almost the only visitor there? The secluded restaurant can be reached by boat or helicopter only. By approaching the National Park of La Maddalena from the air, the view encompasses more than 60 islands of breathtaking beauty, the water around them so clear that yachts and boats look like floating on air. Among them, the small isle of Santa Maria looks more like belonging to the Seychelles or the Caribbean than being a Mediterranean Island - white fine sandy beaches framed by granite stones shaped by the wind and sea, and the water color ranging from a bright turquoise to pale blue to even pale pink as at the Spiaggia Rosa, whose sand color is due to tiny red coral fragments accumulated there by sea currents over the centuries.
