The Italian dolce vita is difficult to describe. It is something that truly needs to be experienced first-hand. It is found in the ambient sounds of Rome's cobblestone streets, in the rows of vines of Tuscany's tranquil vineyards, reflecting in the immaculate and azure Mediterranean waters off the Amalfi Coast, and in the daily interactions with Italy's jovial citizens. The unbridled romanticism of a honeymoon in Italy will leave you with memories lasting a lifetime.
Slow down to see the world for the earth has music for those who listen.

This time of year expect warm and sunny days, and pleasant evenings. The temperature hovers between 13-27°C (55-80°F) in the north, 16-27°C (60-83°F) in central Italy, and 21-30°C (70-85°F) in the south. But even though these temperatures may seem perfect, you'll want to pack the lightest layers possible, as Italy is not immune to heat waves during June.
Everyone is more or less familiar with Italian culture, from watching movies, learning about the Roman Empire, or simply eating pizza. But not until you arrive in the country do you realize that everything you thought you knew is really just the tip of an enormous iceberg. Every region—every town even—has a unique personality, so no matter how many times you visit Italy, you’re always left with the craving for more.

Italy is steeped in ancient history and today you will pass by one of the most well-preserved residues of it.
Pompeii was a thriving citadelle in the reigning years of the Roman empire. A center for commerce, trade, art and science. In a catastrophic eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in 79 A.D it was buried under ash and pumice, thus preserving it to an impressive extend.

Think of it as a marathon, not a sprint. Buon appetito!
While most of Italy is about sightseeing, there’s nothing to visit per se on the Amalfi Coast. Instead of lavish churches and ancient monuments, the rugged coastline is the sight, best enjoyed from a hilltop al fresco restaurant, the bow of a yacht, or inside your car while navigating one of the world’s most scenic drives. Amalfi is a luxurious destination with a humble past, where glitzy villas still intermingle with sleepy fishing villages and bucolic lemon orchards.

This morning you will say goodbye to the Amalfi Coast and head to Rome!
With an uncanny sense of foresight, Rome was first called the Eternal City 2,000 years ago. Even by today’s standards, it’s still grand in a way that few other places can compare to. The buildings are dilapidated and the roads disheveled, but chaos has never looked so exquisite. The cobblestone streets may be nonsensical, but a wrong turn always leads to an unexpected delight: an intimate piazza, a baroque fountain, or a homey trattoria serving house-made cacio e pepe.

Why we love it for you:
Truly one of a kind, Palm Suite brings a touch of the exotic to the Eternal City. While they may be set in a grand 18th-century building, each suite has its own whimsical style – a statue of a tiger in one, a golden palm-shaped lamp in another. With the Colosseum and Forum for neighbors, the views are rather special too.

Wonder the streets of Rome and explore the surrounding area.
If you are into vintage designer finds check out Mercato Monti Urban Market, where you'll find handcrafted accessories and other treasures from local artisans. Nearby a street is lined with chic boutiques selling clothing and jewellery from independent designers
Then, wind your way towards a garden, where you can survey the Eternal City in citrus-shaded splendour from the heights of a hill.
For a spot of more secret sightseeing, peek through the keyhole of a nearby villa for a hedge-framed glimpse of St Peter’s Dome.
And finally, to end your afternoon in true Italian fashion, why not go for an aperitivo? June is perfect for Italy's unofficial national cocktail, the aperol spritz.
Quench your thirst with some Roman theatrics at The Court, Palazzo Manfredi’s Colosseum-adjacent cocktail terrace, where mixologists whip up an impressive range of experimental drinks. Don’t miss the signature Rising Sun, an aromatic blend of gin, yuzu, matcha, moscato grapes and honey presented in a Japanese teapot; or the quintessential aperol spritz.
We recommend checking out the Colosseum and the Roman Forum on this day!

This is one of my favorite things to do in Italy; you combine "aperitivo" and "cena" (dinner). There are certain bars that offer a fair amount of bites to eat with drinks, either free of charge, with a small fee, or à la carte, depending on whether you're there for an aperitif. It's a way to experience the city like a local!

It’s easy to get wrapped up in the magic of Florence, but there’s so much more to Tuscany outside of the capital city. Hop in the car and the city quickly gives way to medieval villages, terracotta estates, and endless rows of vineyards. The region is renowned for its history and art, but sensual pleasures reign supreme: copious glasses of wine, simple cooking with seasonal ingredients, natural thermal baths. If you’re seeking la dolce vita, you’ll find it in Tuscany.

Travel through the countryside and reach Volterra, somewhat off-the-beaten-track this is no doubt Tuscany's most bewitching town. Inhabited since the Iron Age, the town dates back over 3000 years and offers visitors an authentic journey into its rich, eventful history thanks to the exceptionally well-preserved remnants of each historic/artistic period.
Meet your dedicated English-speaking guide here and set off to explore, learning all about the ancient 'Velathri'
(later transformed into Volterrae by the Romans), and how it became one of the most powerful and important towns of the Etruscan Confederation.
Crown the morning with a luscious lunch in one of the town's trattorias before setting off once more for a scenic drive to San Gimignano. Enjoy some time at leisure in the 'medieval manhattan', otherwise called the 'town of the 100 towers'. Here you can roam the pretty cobblestone-paved streets of this UNESCO World Heritage Site and browse the quaint shops filled with unique local products: delicious Vernaccia white wine, Italian ceramics, and home linens.

San Gimignano has many towers to climb, but our recommendation is Torre Grossa, right next to the City Hall. This is one of the best things to do in San Gimignano.

One of the best things about traveling is finding out the local myths and legends. Ever wonder what is the meaning behind the symbol of the Chianti Classico wine?
We will take you back to the medieval Tuscany of the 12th century where the country was run by city kingdoms. Florence, Luca, Pisa, Siena and Arezzo were the most powerful ones. No.. let's be honest, Florence was the most powerful one, fighting everybody else around it for land ownership.
The Chianti Valley, in the heart of Tuscany lies between Siena and Florence. These unfortunate cities were getting run down by armies fighting for territory every few years. Something had to be done. So the Grand Duke of Tuscany, of the known Ricasoli family gathered all his knights around the round table to find a solution.
As you might imagine, the strategy came down to the rooster, who was responsible of waking up the knights.
Let it be known that in medieval stereotypes, Sienese were rumored to be beautiful and fashionable and the medieval Florentines were rumored to be smart, with big noses.
So the Sienese chose a chubby, healthy white rooster and fed it to it's heart's content! The had it sleeping on pillows and living like a king. On the contrary the Florentines chose a black rooster, who they locked in an underground cellar with minimal food and water; just enough to survive.
Politics, money and power have always been important in our world, including 17th century Tuscany. Tuscany wines became popular after the phyloxera epidemic destroyed French vines in the 16th century. That's when the British aristocracy's consumption turned to Tuscany.
As expected, everyone started producing Chianti Classico wines. The Tuscan oligarchs then imposed some restrictions on wine production, enforced by a Consortium in 1761. Only wines produced exclusively from vineyards within a protected 100-square-mile area could be called "Chianti Classico".
This rule still applies and is strictly enforced today.

An optional activity for today is to visit the town of Siena.
Once a powerful city kingdon, today Siena, is one of the most enchanting medieval cities in Italy.
Learn about the town's rich history and how it was founded by the Romans, discover the major landmarks among which Piazza del Campo, where twice a year dashing horses compete in the heart rendering Palio race. Hear your guide recount fascinating legends as you wander down medieval streets, and visit the magnificent Duomo, Siena's awe-inspiring Cathedral. Marvel at the Gothic town hall, and climb on top of Torre del Mangia, a slender 14th-century tower with sweeping views from its distinctive white crown.
Siena is divided in 17 neighborhoods, the "contrade", which extend outward from the main piazza and each have their own flag! Look out for these as you walk around!

Nestled in the heart of Tuscany, Italy, Pienza is a captivating gem that embodies the essence of Renaissance beauty. This UNESCO World Heritage Site exudes a charming allure with its perfectly preserved medieval architecture, winding streets, and breathtaking vistas of the Val d'Orcia countryside. A stroll through Pienza reveals an array of artisanal shops, quaint cafes, and delectable trattorias, where one can indulge in the region's renowned pecorino cheese.
The Pienza cathedral was constructed in 1459, and is considered to be one of the most important Rennaissance buildings in all of Italy. It was commissioned by a Pope, who was one of the earliest supporters of the renaissance. The Pope was born into a humble family in a village called Corsignano. Pienza was his home of choice, the city that took him in as a young boy and educated him. He dedicated the cathedral to the Virgin Mary. The cathedral was built over the ruins of the ancient romanesque church of Santa Maria.
It is also worthwhile to pay a visit to Palazzo Piccolomini, the summer residence of the Pope. Piccolomini is the family name of the Pope.
Pienza started by two main gates and one straight road connecting them. Porta al Prato and Porta al Ciglio are the two gates. Walk from one end to the other through Corso Rossellino and get to know Pienza on foot; you will encounter many historic sites, cute boutiques and enotecas and the jovial citizens of this beautiful city.
End your walk at the panoramic view point and have a coffee in this scenic terrace.
Montalcino is dominated by an imposing fortress and blessed with an impressive history of territorial wars between Italian city kingdoms. But this charming medieval hill-top town is arguably these days best known for its wines, being home to Brunello di Montalcino, one of the world’s most famous reds.
You will notice that all the towns around you start from "Monte". Montalcino, Montereggioni, Montepulciano, Montevarchi, Monteaperti, Montecatini.. The list goes on and on!
The reason is that Tuscany is so hilly and all these medieval towns were built on top of a hill for defense reasons then; for great views now.

The Orto Felice, the vegetable garden of your hotel is a must-see during your stay there. This is an important part of daily life in our Borgo, involving everyone who lives at San Felice.
The “Orto e l’Aia nel Borgo” was created as a social agriculture project intended to improve the quality of life for disabled children by helping them socially integrate and offering them the opportunity to work.
