May is one of the most comfortable times of year to visit Italy. Days are typically sunny and warm without being too hot, although nights in the north do get chilly so pack a jacket.
U.S. passport holders are allowed to fly into Italy for tourism without visa requirements.
There are currently no COVID-19-related entry restrictions in Italy. Face masks are no longer required in public spaces or on transit. They are only required in medical offices and pharmacies.

Visit Venice the right way and you can’t help but fall in love. The majesty of San Marco Square and the Rialto Bridge is drowned out by the crowds and tacky souvenir shops, but a more authentic and mysterious Venice is just outside of the tourist center. Venice is a city without cars, so you'll be picked up at the airport and taken to the nearby water terminal to enter the city on your private water taxi, directly to the door of your hotel.
