30th Anniversary in Italy

Everyone is more or less familiar with Italian culture, from watching movies, learning about the Roman Empire, or simply eating pizza. But not until you arrive in the country do you realize that everything you thought you knew is really just the tip of an enormous iceberg. Every region—every town even—has a unique personality, so no matter how many times you visit Italy, you’re always left with the craving for more.

Amalfi Coast

While most of Italy is about sightseeing, there’s nothing to visit per se on the Amalfi Coast. Instead of lavish churches and ancient monuments, the rugged coastline is the sight, best enjoyed from a hilltop al fresco restaurant, the bow of a yacht, or inside your car while navigating one of the world’s most scenic drives. Amalfi is a luxurious destination with a humble past, where glitzy villas still intermingle with sleepy fishing villages and bucolic lemon orchards.

Positano Restaurant Recommendations

In town

  • Next2 is a romantic setting for a modern cuisine that hearkens back to the culinary traditions of Campania
  • Max offers elegant pasta & fish dishes in a stylish space
  • Le Tre Sorelle is a laid-back institution founded in 1953 & popular for pizza & fish, with sea views from the terrace
  • Casa e Bottega is a plant-filled café-restaurant-interiors shop founded by the same owners as the excellent Next2 up the road.

In the hills

  • Donna Rosa is a true classic of the Amalfi Coast, let alone Positano, with humble trattoria beginnings
  • Il Rifugio dei Mele offers stunning views paired with delicious Amalfi staple dishes
  • Da Constantino is a traditional Italian spot serving classic seafood dishes on a rugged hilltop with Amalfi Coast views
  • Il Ritrovo offers gourmet plates in a chic hilltop eatery with a shuttle service & terrace overlooking the coast

By the beach

  • Il Grottino Azzuro is a hidden gem by the bus stop that offers delicious local dishes. Locals and savvy tourists flock here for linguine with crab, pumpkin soup with calamari, octopus salad, and rustic sausages. The walk downhill aids digestion.
  • La Conca del Sogno is a fantastic beach club on the water for lunch and a day under the Mediterranean sun!

This is a recommendation only.

Legend has it that gods came down from heaven to the Path in order to reach the sea. This spectacular scenery is one not be missed if you are spending time on the Amalfi Coast, it is a one-way 3.7-mile hike, accompanied by a private guide, and it is easy to see why the Gods may have fallen in love with it.

Check in

Check in at your hotel and enjoy your stay on the Mediterranean's most iconic island.

If early check in is not available, please feel free to leave your luggage with the front desk while you enjoy lunch at your leisure.

Capri

Visiting Capri is like stepping into a pop art painting, thanks to splashes of color from the iridescent blue in underwater caverns, the juicy red and green of a Caprese salad, or the almost neon yellow of an after-dinner limoncello. Once the daytrippers head back to the mainland in the early evening, this teeming island becomes surprisingly intimate, just in time for a glowing Aperol spritz to sip on while watching the sun set over the horizon.

🥗
Capri Lunch Recommendations

Capri has some incredible places to eat with panoramic views over the bay and fresh food. A few of our favorites are:

  • Villa Verde is a lively restaurant with a large outdoor terrace and a chic cocktail bar. The terrace is also perfect for an aperitif.
  • L'Agave is one of the best restaurants in Capri, recently under new management and having had a rebrand, this restaurant overlooks the sea.
  • Torre Saracena is a lovely restaurant facing the famous Faraglioni of Capri, with a large variety of dishes, particularly those made from fresh seafood. There is also a beach club.
  • Il Riccio is an exclusive beach club with a chic terrace for lounging, stairs to the sea and Mediterranean cuisine. It has a vegetarian menu also.
  • Da Gelsomina is one of Capri's landmark restaurants, where the same family has been preparing local specialties for generations. Located on the higher part of the island, Anacapri.

  • Take advantage of the private beach club for Jumeirah guests and take a dip in the sea.
  • Explore Capri’s wild side together through its scenic and breath-taking footpaths, and discover its secret coves and historic ruins.
  • Dine in style at L'Olivo, the only 2 Michelin star restaurant on the island.

🏖️
Capri Beach Clubs

Beach Clubs:

  • La Fontelina: Opened in 1949, La Fontelina began as a humble beach shack eatery but it didn’t take long for the jet set to discover it in the ’60s. To access La Fontelina, you’ll have to take a long flight of stairs starting near the Punta Tragara hotel. Don’t underestimate the journey and come with practical shoes. The destination will be worth it. Instead of sand, there are slabs of limestone and the famous blue-and-white striped beach chairs to lounge in. Today, a trip to La Fontelina, which always includes lunch, is a Capri must. Like all beach clubs here, reservations are required and book up quickly.
  • Da Luigi: On that same staircase down to La Fontelina, you’ll find Da Luigi. Another equally scenic beach club, Da Luigi is situated nearby one of the three formations that make up the Faraglioni. The place bills itself as Capri's de facto living room. Since its opening in the 1960s, it’s been a place for relaxation and respite beneath the sun.
  • Lido del Faro: Lido del Faro is a beach club right underneath the Punta Carena lighthouse at Capri’s southwestern end with lounge chairs, umbrellas, and a saltwater pool perched right above sea level. After spending the afternoon relaxing, head to the restaurant for a long lunch of pasta dishes like mezzi paccheri with puréed green peppers and octopus ragù, or just order a panino straight to your beach chair.
  • Il Riccio: The exclusive Il Riccio Beach Club is found on the North shore of the island, near the spectacular Blue Grotto. Set on a cliff with sea access via a staircase that zigzags down to the water’s edge, the chic white-and-blue beach club has a collection of inviting sunbeds and loungers to allow guests to perfect their tan in privacy. And for fine dining, Il Riccio restaurant prepares exquisite seafood delicacies paired with top Italian and international wines.

🍝
Capri Restaurant Recommendations

Capri Town

  • Da Paolino: You’ve probably already seen photos of Da Paolino without even knowing it. Located above Marina Grande and situated in a lemon tree-filled garden, Da Paolino is a must-go. To dine here is to dine beneath a canopy of citrus (nets catch falling fruits). Order a Caprese, the island’s eponymous salad, and the lemon spaghetti. And no meal here is complete without a bit of limoncello.
  • Le Grottelle: Olive trees and a pergola? Beautiful, but child’s play compared to the views of Arco Natural you’ll get at Le Grottelle. This spot is about 20 minutes from the Piazzetta—just look out for the painted tiles under the arch and start walking. Plan to linger on the terrace over plates of marinated anchovies and perfectly prepared grilled seafood. If you see scarole on the menu, order it as a side—it’s escarole stewed with olives, capers, raisins, and anchovies. Note that they’re closed on Tuesdays and only take reservations by phone, and you may want to bring a flashlight if you’re making moves after dusk.
  • Aurora: Aurora and Capri are synonymous for gastronomy enthusiasts spread all over the globe. More than a restaurant, Aurora is a place that rightfully belongs, generation after generation, to the emblematic map of an island so full of myth, epic beauty and infinite narratives.
  • Lo Sfizio: The pizza at this casual spot in the residential neighborhood of Tiberio is worth the uphill trek it takes to get to it. The tender, thick-crusted Neapolitan pies are one of the island’s best bargain meals, but if you’re incapable of turning down pasta, try the paccheri totani (a short, chubby pasta served with squid in a tomato-based sauce) or the scialatielli con frutti di mare with zucchini and swordfish. Order a bottle of falanghina, a white wine that’s grown in the volcanic soil across the bay, and grab a seat outside under a wooden pergola or the pedestrian-only street.
  • Villa Margherita: You’re probably hoping to have at least one meal under olive trees in a garden with a sea view on this trip. Live out that fantasy at this family-run spot just down the hill from Via Camerelle, where the herbs and vegetables that will eventually make their way to your plate are all grown on-site. This is a great place to try octopus genovese, a Caprese spin on the traditional Neapolitan braised beef and onion stew, as well as classics like spaghetti alla nerano, a dish that’s made with zucchini and provolone.

Anacapri

  • Da Gelsomina: Da Gelsomina is one of Capri's landmark restaurants, where the same family has been preparing local specialties for generations. Famous for its "ravioli capresi", "pollo al mattone", and rabbit cacciatora, Da Gelsomina uses produce picked fresh from their own garden and serves the house white made from the family's tiny vineyard.
  • La Terrazza Di Lucullo: The sweetest tomatoes, the crunchiest cucumbers, the juiciest lemons and the most aromatic of herbs: it's the quality of the fruit and vegetables grown in the hotel's cliff top kitchen garden with the most jaw-dropping views which makes the dishes served in Caesar Augustus' La Terrazza di Lucullo restaurant so unbelievably delicious and so incredibly healthy too!
  • L’Olivo: Capri’s dining scene is famously and delightfully relaxed but when you want something more distinguished, L’Olivo is the best choice. Helmed by a chef, who hails from nearby Ischia, the restaurant boasts two Michelin stars. Set within the Anacapri’s Capri Palace Jumeirah, the restaurant’s signature dish is the lemon-scented homemade tagliolini pasta with burrata cheese, red prawns, and sea asparagus.

This is a recommendation only.

🍸
Where to grab a drink

We love these hangout spots for drinks in Capri:

  • Monzù Gin Club & American Bar is the perfect place for a cocktail after a day at the beach or by the pool. Over 150 types of gin and views overlooking the bay of Capri.
  • Taverna Anema e Core is a unique taverna with no dress code and live music! A frequent celebrity haunt for its casual, laidback party atmosphere.

Rome

With an uncanny sense of foresight, Rome was first called the Eternal City 2,000 years ago. Even by today’s standards, it’s still grand in a way that few other places can compare to. The buildings are dilapidated and the roads disheveled, but chaos has never looked so exquisite. The cobblestone streets may be nonsensical, but a wrong turn always leads to an unexpected delight: an intimate piazza, a baroque fountain, or a homey trattoria serving house-made cacio e pepe.

🍕
Rome Restaurant Recommendations
  • Felice a Testaccio is a simple, family, trattoria-style atmosphere. Without a doubt, one of the standard-bearers of Latium cuisine.
  • Bistrot 64 boasts the attractive, informal decor of a bistro combined with surprisingly creative and imaginative cuisine.
  • Moi is a small and decidedly smart place. A chef cooks fresh seasonal ingredients with modern techniques, which can also change daily.
  • Prati Rione Gastronomico offers a varied menu ranging from bistro to pastry, from cocktail bar to bakery; as well as a pizzeria. Well-made cuisine - the choice is limited, but the quality is tantalizing!
  • Piccolo Buco is an exceptional pizzeria where you can choose from pizza Roma, spaghetti carbonara and exotic salami.
  • Taverna dello Spuntino has a particularly striking interior. From its old tufa passageways converted into a wine cellar in the basement, to its charming dining rooms with brick-vaulted arches where hams, flasks of wine, fruit and antipasti all form an attractive display.
  • Santa Palato is a trendy yet authentic local eaterie that is sure to impress.
