Meet the guide at the hotel lobby in the late afternoon and take about a 1.5 hours’ drive to reach the starting point of the trek. (please bring warm clothes and gloves)
The hike up to the peak will take about 3 hours (Depending on individual fitness level and on ground conditions). The first 1.5 hours trekking on an easy pathway where you will get to the rim, enjoy your light packed cold breakfast / snack which was brought from the hotel. After your quick meal, continue a 30 minutes ascending trek to reach the peak to catch the sunrise over the horizon and panoramic view of the area. You will have a chance to see clearly the neighboring two mountains of Mt. Agung and Mt. Abang. Occasionally you can see Rinjani Mountain in good weather. will be provided with torch lights, a First Aid kit and head lamps.
More on Mt. Batur: Mount Batur is an active volcano located at the center of two concentric calderas northwest of Mount Agung on the island of Bali. The southeast side of the larger 10×13 km caldera contains a caldera lake. Both the larger caldera, and a smaller 7.5 km caldera were formed by a collapse of the magma chamber, the first larger collapse taking place about 29,300 years ago, and the second inner caldera collapsing about 20,150 years ago. Another estimate of the inner caldera's formation date, formed during the emplacement of the Bali (or Ubud) ignimbrite, has been dated at about 23,670 and 28,500 years ago.
