January is in the middle of the rainy season on Bali. Although one can and should still expect some nice days with no or little rain, it is more probable than not, that tropical rain showers will be part of your Bali experience.
- Comfortable and lightweight clothing is preferable in Indonesia.
- For temples, long pants/skirts are required for women and shirts that cover at least the shoulders. Long pants for men.
- Footwear for days out should be comfortable runners, or sport sandals (Sandal must have a strap around the heel if entering royal venues).
- It is also recommended to bring a casual evening outfit and comfortable shoes that you could wear to a chic cocktail lounge, but also walk a few blocks in as well.
- Things like hats and sunglasses are helpful on the sunny days.
Tipping is completely up to your discretion and not expected by your guides. USD is most commonly accepted.

Local Emergencies
Indonesia has recently adopted 110 or 112 for all emergencies, 118 or 119 for ambulance and medical emergencies.
A Tourist Visa is required for entry to Indonesia. Visa upon arrival for up to 30 days is available and can be extended one time for an additional 30 days. For more information, please visit the U.S. State Department website.
Your passport must be valid for at least six months. You then must show a return ticket before purchasing the visa. After obtaining the Visa On Arrival then continue to go the immigration checkpoint to get the entry stamp before retrieving your luggage.
The following restrictions apply for entry to Indonesia:

- Travelers must use PeduliLindungi application and have downloaded the application prior to departure
- Travelers must show vaccination card (physical or digital) showing full vaccination at least fourteen days prior to departure.

Indonesian people are very easygoing and would rarely tell you if you are doing something that offends them. However, here are a few things to think about while you are in Indonesia:
- Do not give or take anything with your left hand, as it is considered impure.
- Do not touch children's heads, as this part of the body is considered to be the home of the human soul.
- Do not blow your nose while eating. It is best to get up and step away from the table.
- In busy areas, keep your shirt on (unless on the beach of course).
- Hands on hips are a sign of defiance, especially when talking to someone.
- Ask questions. When visiting a religious site, taking part in a religious practice, or simply touring a town, ask lots of questions to your Indonesian guides and friends. Indonesians are incredibly proud of their culture and are happy to share. This is also true if you are not sure how to act or feel uncomfortable in a situation – ask questions to make sure you are following proper Indonesian etiquette.
Upon arrival at Denpasar International Airport, an airport representative will meet you as you disembark from the aircraft and will be holding a signboard with your name written on it. He will then take you to the main gate to meet your guide while waiting for immigration services to be processed. He will then assist you to retrieve your luggage. Afterwards, your guide will take you to the Capella Ubud for check-in.

Experience the Balinese way of traditional healing with this 1.5 hour session which will give you a taste of the island's alternative holistic medicine. These healing practices range from use of natural herbs to massages to energy work. Your session today will have four parts with different healers, all whom have different specialities to heal specific problems of the body, from physical and emotional to mental and spiritual. Begin with a foot massage, followed by a reading of your aura and energies, then a palm reading, and finally ending with sound meditation. Feel free to talk to the healers about anything you wish to address, or any questions you may have. You are sure to come away from this session with better understanding of Balinese beliefs, and perhaps even a sense of relaxation and wellness.
In the afternoon, after your healing experience, you will have lunch. After lunch, you will drive with your guide to your waterfall hike.

In this one hour trek through stunning views, you will explore Tukad Cepung Waterfall & trekking down to the waterfall. You will have the opportunity to relax and cool down in a beautiful waterfall.

Enjoy a simple breakfast this morning and meet the guide for a 30-minute drive to a peaceful village. It is known for its beautiful rice terraces, tropical rain forest and is home to many Balinese artists. Start a walk through rice paddies to learn how rice is grown, cultivated and harvested. Continue walking along the rice field, you will meet farmers ploughing and planting. They will be happy to invite you to join them. Afterwards, walk along the village paths and stop at villager’s houses to meet and greet with the locals. Pause to visit local artist’s workshops where you can join and practice wood carving or painting. The walking tour will then end at Gunung Kawi Sebatu Temple for a blessing ceremony.
You will be led by a Hindu Priest to perform a purification ceremony by presenting offerings at the Shrine located in the holy water. After presenting offerings, the Priest will lead you to take a bath in the Holy Spring water Plunge Pool. Balinese believe that the holy Spring water plunge pool purifies your body and soul. It is believed to heal any ailment. While bathing, your body shows the energy of the spirit splashing from the fountain and flowing down to the pool, appearing in different colors for each person. From the water's appearance, the Priest will be able to read your life energy and give you advice.
After your ceremony in the early afternoon, you'll have lunch at a local restaurant. Afterwards, you will be brought back to your hotel, arriving in the early afternoon.

In the afternoon, set off on the Campuhan Ridge Walk. Although it is long at 9km, this easy nature walk offers a stunning vista of the hillside and valley which are dotted with small village houses and rice fields.

Visit a local's home to participate in preparing and cooking a range of Balinese dishes, using local ingredients and spices, over a traditional wood fired oven. The host will show you their organic garden where they grow vegetables, spices and other food crops. They learned their gardening skill from a family member and will lead you to pick vegetables and spices for your cooking lesson which will be conducted by their spouse. The host will explain local philosophies about food sharing unique insights into the culture of the Balinese as you pound, grind and chop ingredients. You will finish your cooking course with a delicious meal served in this peaceful home setting.

You have an early morning tomorrow for your volcano hike. We suggest getting to bed as early as possible this evening!
Today, you'll have the opportunity to see the magnificent sunrise of Mount Batur. Get yourself ready with warm clothes and gloves and take the 1.5 hours’ drive to reach the starting point of the trek. You will be provided with torch lights, a First Aid kit, head lamps and a stick by your guide. The hike to the peak will take about 3 hours (depending on individual fitness level and on ground conditions). The first 1.5 hours of trekking will be on an easy pathway. You will reach the rim at approximately 5:30am. Then enjoy a light packed breakfast and a hot coffee or tea.
After a quick meal, continue with a 30-minute ascending trek to reach the peak. You will arrive at approximately 6:00am to catch the sunrise over the horizon and enjoy a panoramic view of the area. You will have a chance to see the neighboring mountains of Mt. Agung and Mt. Abang. Occasionally, you can see Rinjani Mountain in good weather.

This morning, wake up early, take a packed breakfast from the hotel and meet your tour guide for a 60-minute drive to Serangan Harbor. Meet your experienced fishing guide who will accompany you on this tour. Get onboard the boat and cruise to Nusa Penida Island for an hour. Along the way enjoy a nice view of three sister islands of Bali (Nusa Lembongan, Ceningan, and Penida); it is even more beautiful when the sun is rising. During the cruise, there is a possibility to see some dolphins. In addition, you will have a big chance to experience snorkeling to see Manta rays at Manta Point, home to Manta rays and occasionally Mola Mola.
The boat is rigged with a GPS and a fish finder to find a good fishing spot, especially for larger fish. It also features snorkeling and spearfishing gear for those interested in spearfishing in clear water. Once you arrive at the spot, you will be able to try jigging in around 80 – 150 meter depth, and also casting, and popping in and around Nusa Penida. Your targets will include Coral Trout, Giant Trevally, Barracuda, Grouper and many kinds of reef species. You will be able to troll for Mackerel, Tuna, and other deepwater species. A good Picnic Lunch will be provided and served on board the boat, or you can have the catch fish BBQ at a shoreside restaurant on the island.
