It was designed by architect Bernard Tschumi with Michael Photiadis and inaugurated in the summer of 2009. The Museum hosts its collections across three levels, as well as in the archaeological excavation that lies at its foundations.

Please note that the walk up the Acropolis Hill is part of the experience of visiting this incredible ancient site. Consider the astounding number of people who have walked the same path through millennia. In fact, all the buildings you see on the Acropolis were built or rebuilt during the 500-300 B.C. As a result, the marble steps are very shiny and slick. Additionally, don’t forget to wear a pair of comfortable walking shoes and absolutely avoid wearing flip flops. Sunblock, sunglasses, and a hat are a must. Lastly, don’t forget to bring a water bottle and lots of energy!
