Through Paros’ green and flowery meadows, along hillsides and down into cool valleys, a path of weathered, grey marble flagstones meanders from the pretty hillside village of Lefkes to Prodromos, a small, old, fortified Cycladic settlement. This is the Byzantine Road, built about one thousand years ago as part of the main thoroughfare across Paros from Paroikia to Piso Livadi, at a time when the Aegean Sea was infested with pirates. Today, the Byzantine Road offers a lovely and only mildly strenuous amble that covers 3.5 kilometers, crossing the island’s interior.

Crete is stepped in amazing beaches, from pink sand beaches to pebbly beaches and fine golden sand beaches. No matter where you choose to lounge today, one this is for sure; the water will be crystal clear and turquoise!
Some great beaches we love are:
- Agia Pelagia is about 10 km east of Heraklion. One of the biggest resorts of the northern coast of Crete, Agia Pelagia is popular and allocates two smaller splendid sandy beaches. Here you will find all the goods of hotels and all the facilities and services are provided for a pleasant stay.
- Matala was famous in the 1960s and 1970s as a hippie destination. Many hippies would come and spend many days or even months in the caves above the beach of Matala. Today, it is an organised sandy beach, perfect for relaxing.
- Kalamaki is a small fishing village built on a big sandy beach that often is less crowded than Matala. There are certain small taverns, cafes and other essential visitor services.
- Preveli beach on the southern side of the prefecture of Rethymno is a place of great natural beauty, Preveli. This beach is where a river flows into the sea, passing through many palm trees and forming a lake close to the sea. There are water sports in this lake to explore the river, while the sandy and unorganized beach of Preveli is a wonderful place to swim.
- Ammoudara is a long, sandy beach, 5 kilometres western from Heraklion with watersports such as windsurfing and spots to relax.

Crete is not only known for its amazing beaches, Venetian town and warm people; it is also known for its rivers and gorges and amazing natural landscapes.

Today descend a Cretan gorge and end by the scenic South coast on a less strenuous hike. It's 8 kilometers long, not too steep, and not too difficult, with a pleasantly changing scenset from the green start by the fertile Askyfou plain, to the rocky end near the dry south coast. It has some spectacular sections, particularly the very narrow passages, and several parts are shaded. It is suitable for anyone in good physical condition and requires no hiking experience.
Enjoy this pleasant, 3 hour hike on a mostly stoney trail, before driving to a beautiful beach, to relax and swim in the crystal clear waters of the Libyan Sea. After that, enjoy some time for an optional lunch in the coastal village of Sfakia, before returning to the hotel in the late afternoon.
Includes: Roundtrip Transfers, English-speaking hiking guide, Entry fees, and Traditional lunch.
Participants are encouraged to wear solid sneakers or light hiking shoes and have with them a backpack, hat, sunscreen, swimsuit, sandals/light shoes for the beach, and beach towel. Walking sticks are provided on request.
A late lunch at the coastal village of Sfakia is included.
