Late May and early June offer some of the best weather of the year, and will have warmed sufficiently by the end of the month that it now feels like summer—with an average high of about 78°F (26-28°C), it's the perfect time for a beach vacation. There’s little chance of rain, with plenty of sunshine and clear blue skies. Maintaining a place for thousands of years is no easy task and, on the surface, Athens can feel like a city in shambles. But if you’re willing to embrace the chaos, then hipster neighborhoods and an underground art scene give Athens an up-and-coming vibe, despite being one of the oldest cities in the world. It’s a capital of contradictions, where sipping a craft cocktail in a trendy rooftop bar overlooking the ruins of the Acropolis is par for the course.
Settle into the hotel, perfectly situated in the heart of Athens and why not take a stroll into the flower-decorated neighborhood Plaka for your first Greek Coffee. Later in the afternoon you will visit the Acropolis on a guided tour.

The Acropolis is the most important ancient site in the Western world. Crowned by the Parthenon, it stands sentinel over Athens, visible from almost everywhere within the city. Its monuments and sanctuaries of white Pentelic marble gleam in the midday sun and gradually take on a honey hue as the sun sinks, while at night they stand brilliantly illuminated above the city. A glimpse of this magnificent sight can not fail to exalt your spirit.
The Acropolis became a World Heritage-listed site in 1987. The Museum was founded to exhibit all the significant finds from the Sacred Rock and its foothills. It was designed by architect Bernard Tschumi with Michael Photiadis and inaugurated in the summer of 2009. The Museum hosts its collections across three levels, as well as in the archaeological excavation that lies at its foundations.

The best beaches on the island for a dip are:
- Ammoudi in Agios Nikolaos sits right below Oia on the picturesque bay Ammoudi. You will have to walk down many steps from the Oia castle or approach it by car. In both cases, Ammoudi looks like a cinema setting, where you will find a number of tavernas carved in the rock.
- Perivolos has amazing waters, cosmopolitan shops and is visited by well-to-do people of the island for its black sand and crystal-clear waters.
- The Red Beach is the most impressive of all beaches in Santorini; the definition of a volcano beach. Its name reveals its color and is accessible by boat or on foot.
