This morning you will head out for a half day tour of the Palace of Versailles!
Originally constructed as a hunting lodge in 1623 by King Louis XIII, it was eventually replaced by a small château that eventually grew into the palace as we know it today. It quickly became the favorite royal residence and in 1682, Louis XIV moved the seat of his court and government to Versailles, making the palace the de facto capital of France.
Walk through the front doors into the public areas of the State Apartments and Hall of Mirrors. You will also be able to see the newly reopened Queens’ Apartments, in the full revived magnificence of the Rococo style of Marie-Antoinette’s bedchamber or that of the Queen’s Guard Room.
