Your Family Trip To Paris

They say that France’s allure comes from its je ne sais quoi, but there’s a reason that it’s the most visited country in the world. The quoi, as it happens, is the unceasing power to surprise you. You could spend a lifetime in France and discover something new with every stroll: charming villages reside in the mountains, countryside, and by the sea. France was practically designed to celebrate La joie de vivre and Paris is, of course, the crown jewel.

☀️
Weather

In December, Paris is chilly and festive, with winter temperatures averaging between 40°F and 48°F. Overcast skies with occasional showers are to be expected. Snow is rare but not impossible, adding to the city’s charm when it occurs. Days are short, with about 8 hours of daylight, so evenings come early, perfect for enjoying holiday lights and seasonal decorations around the city. Dressing warmly with layers, a coat, scarf, and umbrella is essential for exploring Paris comfortably in December.

Day 4: Discovering Versailles
🏰
Versailles Unveiled

This morning meet your driver and your guide at your hotel and you will head out for a full day tour of the Palace of Versailles. This is a drive of approximately 1hr.

Your expert, private guide will begin to give an introduction to Versailles in the car while en route!

Originally constructed as a hunting lodge in 1623, it was eventually replaced by a small château that eventually grew into the palace as we know it today. It quickly became the favorite royal residence and in 1682, the monarch moved the seat of his court and government to Versailles, making the palace the de facto capital of France.

Walk through the front doors into the public areas of the State Apartments and Hall of Mirrors. You will also be able to see the newly reopened Queens’ Apartments, in the full revived magnificence of the Rococo style of Marie-Antoinette’s bedchamber or that of the Queen’s Guard Room. Learn about the royal ongoings of pre-Revolutionary France and gain insight into what was once only known to the nobles that were specially invited to Versailles.

Enjoy a lunch break on-site with your guide, and then continue to the Gardens.

In the afternoon, you could discover the Queen’s Estate, on the other side of the park. Marie-Antoinette loved to stay there with her close friends and children, and no one was allowed in without her express invitation, not even the King himself! The Petit Trianon is a pure jewel of 18th-century architecture, and the Hamlet is designed as an adult playground for the Queen’s enjoyment, where she would dress as a shepherdess and walk amongst lambs and cows.

Depart Versailles around 4pm and return to your hotel around 5pm.

Inclusions:

  • Private guided for the day
  • Entrance tickets
  • Round-trip Transfer

Please note this visit is completely flexible based on your family's interests and your private guide will adapt to you!

Special Access: King's Apartments

In addition to the public spaces of the castle, you will also enjoy exclusive access to rooms not typically open to the public, the Kings’ Private Apartments. Delve into the intimate quarters of a former king. Immerse yourself in the opulence of his private apartments, witnessing the grandeur of his reign.

After his state apartments, a former king created a suite of rooms designed for more personal use, which opened onto the Marble Courtyard and the Royal Courtyard. Here he displayed his collections of artworks and paintings. A later king made many changes and extended the apartment to the upper floors, creating new rooms, work cabinets, dining rooms, libraries, scientific galleries, and laboratories. These apartments allowed the king to enjoy a certain amount of privacy. The space was also used by another king, who in turn adapted it to his own purposes.

Day 6: Science & The Seine
🔭
Cité des Sciences

A day at Cité des Sciences with kids in Paris is a captivating journey of discovery and fun! As soon as you step into the sprawling, futuristic complex, you'll be greeted by interactive exhibits designed to ignite curiosity. Head to the Cité des Enfants, an area dedicated to children, where kids can explore age-appropriate zones: water play, construction, and sensory areas engage younger ones, while older kids enjoy experiments and hands-on science activities.

Stop by the planetarium to explore the stars and planets, where a show makes the wonders of space accessible and awe-inspiring. The immersive Earth-themed exhibitions, like the sound and light shows, take children through vivid landscapes and teach them about the environment in a way they can touch and feel.

Take a break at the on-site café or bring a packed lunch to enjoy at the picnic area before diving back into the exhibits. Don't miss the robotic displays and the "Light Games" section, where kids can play with shadows, colors, and optical illusions. Each area feels like an adventure, sparking questions and allowing kids to experiment in a safe, engaging environment.

Embark on a dreamy boat ride down the Seine, where the city of light reveals its enchanting secrets. The Eiffel Tower shimmers, bridges become arcs of love, and laughter fills the air. In this romantic aquatic waltz, the Seine whispers tales of timeless passion beneath the starry Parisian sky.

Aboard your private vintage mahogany boat, enjoy a unique view of the Seine River and its beautiful bridges from different angles. Pass under the Pont Alexandre III, a triumphant Art Nouveau masterpiece that links the Invalides to the Grand and Petit Palais. Ironically, the impressive Pont Neuf, which means “new bridge” is the oldest in Paris dating from 1607. Also admire Pont Marie, the second-oldest bridge in Paris which links the Ile-Saint-Louis with the right bank of the Seine.

Continue under the famous Pont des Arts in front of the fabulous gold-domed Institut de France, towards the Louvre. This very private overview from a very private angle will allow you to catch a glimpse of Paris’ entire history.
