In May, Croatia enjoys pleasant spring weather with temperatures ranging from 59°F to 77°F, perfect for outdoor activities. Coastal areas, like Dubrovnik and Split, are warm but not too hot, making it ideal for exploring or relaxing by the sea. The weather is generally sunny with occasional rain showers, but the summer crowds have yet to arrive, offering a more peaceful experience.
U.S. passport holders do not need any special visa to visit Croatia. Make sure your passports are valid for at least three months after your travel dates.

The second-largest city in Croatia (after its capital Zagreb), Split sprawls along a peninsula, jutting dramatically into the Adriatic. As with the country’s other waterfront towns, picturesque beaches abound, but Split stands apart for its fortress-like Diocletian’s Palace, an ancient complex built in the 4th century AD. Split is easily accessible from the Croatian Islands and a good jumping off point for exploring by boat.
