In late November, Chile experiences the transition from spring to summer. The weather varies significantly depending on the region due to the country's long north-to-south stretch.
In the northern regions, such as the Atacama Desert, the weather is typically dry and warm all year round. In late November, you can expect temperatures to be hot during the day, and mild at night.
In Santiago, temperatures are about the same as the region experiences a Mediterranean climate. Spring temperatures are starting to warm up here, and you can expect daytime temperatures ranging from 20-28°C (68-82°F). Nights are cooler, with temperatures dropping to around 10-15°C (50-59°F).
Finally in Patagonia, the weather is known for being unpredictable and varied on a daily basis. November sees temperatures range from about 5-15°C (41-59°F). It's essential to be prepared for rain and wind at any time of the year.
Besides your usual essentials, the below will surely come in handy as you navigate the different terrains of Chile!
Atacama
Dressing in layers is a must for outdoors activities in the Atacama Desert, and this means a separate purpose for each layer: an interior layer, one insulating layer and one exterior layer. Combining these three layers effectively controls heat transmission and keeps you warm and protected. Clothing will vary depending the season, but it is always a good idea to bring a little bit more.
Santiago
Chile’s largest city and capital is nestled in a valley of surrounding hills and mountains, weather varies as seasons change.
Patagonia
If you’re wondering what to wear in Patagonia, our best answer would probably be “layers”. Since weather is usually very changeable it’s important to be able to take clothes off and put them back on. Patagonia is quite a casual place. Most of the people go there to enjoy the outdoors, so you’re rarely going to meet people who dress up fancy. For shoes, sneakers or whatever else you find comfortable is definitely enough.
The Chilean Peso ($) is the official currency used for all kinds of business transactions. US dollars and Euros are generally accepted at large department stores and restaurants. In turn, one can change dollars and Euros for pesos at any bank or “Casa de Cambio” (exchange house) showing a valid passport with a valid entry stamp. Visa and Mastercard are widely accepted at many large and medium establishments. ATM machines can also be found around any major city; please keep in mind that they will only let you withdraw money in pesos, and may charge a local transaction fee.

At The Singular Patagonia, the Andes mountains are your playground. Below are a few suggested activities, but your local guide will be able to discuss the various offerings and help you select your excursions for your stay.
Travel through the eastern sector of the park combining stretches in a van with short walks. This sector is mainly characterized by the presence of animals such as guanacos, pumas and a diversity of birds, as well as its extensive pampas, typical of the Patagonian steppe. First, a visit to the Nordenskjöld Lake viewpoint and the Paine Grande waterfall will be made, then travel by van to the Los Cisnes Lagoon and finally to the Amarga Lagoon.
Ideal for guests who wish to be challenged by a demanding hike and reaching the closest point of the iconic Torres del Paine. The path takes approximately 8 hours and starts at Valle Ascencio, continues by Monte Almirante Nieto until reaching “Refugio Chileno” through forests of Nothofagus and then on a steep rocky incline before arriving at the base of the towers. If the weather conditions permit, we will enjoy viewing the splendor of central, north and south of Paine Towers.
Depart from the dock to the Balmaceda and Serrano glaciers. During an hour and a half of navigation time between the fjords you may observe colonies of sea lions and other animal species. Once you arrive, disembark at the Bernardo O’Higgins National Park. After a short hike, you will reach the closest view point of the glacier, allowing the time and the opportunity to take photos and to learn more about glaciers formation. Once you return to the vessel, you will slowly navigate to the front of Balmaceda glacier and admire its natural beauty. Continue navigating to a working Estancia, enjoy a typical Patagonian lunch and horseback ride or trek within the estancia’s land.
