In September, Belize experiences hot and humid weather as it falls within the wet season. High temperatures typically range from 86°F (30°C) to 90°F (32°C), while nighttime temperatures may drop to around 77°F (25°C). This month is characterized by some rainfall and thunderstorms.
If your dates are flexible, the best time to travel to Belize is November to mid-April.
Arrival at the Belize City international airport. Once you have cleared customs, immigration and Belize arrivals health section, a representative will meet you and assist you with checking in to your flight to San Pedro.
Upon arriving in San Pedro, you will be greeted by a staff member and escorted to the private dock for a short boat ride over to the resort.
Cayo Espanto is located three miles off the coast of San Pedro in the Belize Barrier Reef. As the largest and most intact reef system within the Northern Hemisphere, it comprises seven key marine reserve zones, over 400 cayes and three atolls. The reef’s crystalline waters are a haven for marine life and an exciting ecosystem for divers and snorkelers to explore. The beauty of this unique natural wonder is as much below as above water, as you will soon find out at Cayo Espanto.
A private flight over the Blue Hole of Belize is an awe-inspiring and unforgettable experience. The geological wonder, which measures approximately 300 meters (984 feet) in diameter and 125 meters (410 feet) in depth, appears like a natural masterpiece from the air. From your privileged vantage point, you'll witness the vibrant coral reefs surrounding the Blue Hole, creating a stunning tapestry of colors in the sea. The flight provides a unique perspective of this UNESCO World Heritage Site, offering a sense of its immense scale and the intricate patterns of the surrounding reef system.
During your stay, you will be able to choose from a variety of outdoor adventures.
- Scuba Diving Charters: Scuba diving the second largest barrier reef in the world is not to be missed. is within 15-20 minutes of some of the world’s best and most famous dive sites. Private trips are easily arranged. Guests who wish to dive should choose a private charter that staff will be happy to arrange. Dive Masters are available for private charter trips all along the reef.
- **Fishing**: Fly fishing is always a favorite activity. Hundreds of bonefish have made their home around , and with assistance spotting fish, great success is guaranteed all around the island. The hard sea-bottom immediately around the island provides for unusually easy wading. In addition to wading around the island, guests may hire a guide and boat for some wonderful flats fishing.
- **Private Snorkeling Charters**: Snorkeling in Hol Chan, Belize’s National Marine Park, has been named by USA Today as one of the world’s top ten snorkeling sites. Private charters to Hol Chan are available and staff is happy to plan every detail.

The Cayo Espanto staff will assist you with boarding your boat transfer to San Pedro to catch your domestic flight to Belize City.
