Pak Ou Caves
🚣‍♂️
Half Day Cruise

Enjoy a half-day river cruise to the famed Pak Ou Caves. Board a long-tail boat and begin cruising past scenes of typical Laotian villages barely visible behind thick foliage, wooden canoes bobbing by the shore attached to bamboo poles and floats marking the location of nets and fish traps.

Located next to the mighty Mekong and opposite the mouth of the Mekong and the Ou rivers, explore the two limestone grottoes which house approximately 4,000 sacred Buddhist statues and images which range from mere centimetres up to 2m (7ft) in height. Return to Luang Prabang by cruise with a stop en route at the village of Ban Muang Keo and observe local weavers and whisky distillers honoring their timeworn traditional crafts. End the tour by climbing up to the top of Mount Phousi to admire the panoramic views across the Mekong and Khan rivers as well as the mountain range

Hike & Bike
💦
Waterfalls

Spend a half day exploring the area around Kuang Si Waterfall. Depart on a 1hr drive south of Luang Prabang and take a leisurely hike through the national park to the Kuang Si Bear Rescue Centre. Enjoy a private tour of the centre, established by the Free The Bears Fund in 2003 to look after bears destined for use in the traditional medicine trade, including the Asiatic Black Bear (moon bears). Observe one of Laos’ most endangered species and learn about the threats to bears and what can be done to protect Laos’ precious wildlife. You will be introduced to the work of ‘Free the Bears’ and have the opportunity to help out with the bears’ midday scatter feed by hiding food around the enclosure to stimulate the animals and get them to work for their food.

Afterwards, walk to the beautiful cascading Kuang Si Waterfall. Swimming in the refreshing turquoise waters is possible, although the water temperature is very cool between November and January. Afterwards, transfer back to Luang Prabang by private vehicle.

🚲
Adventure On Two Wheels

The relatively flat, quiet roads around Luang Prabang are excellent for exploring by bicycle. Meet your guide at the hotel and depart on a scenic ride through Luang Prabang and surroundings. Start with a visit to the Royal Palace, which is now a National Museum housing precious artifacts that belonged to the Royal Family. You can also visit Wat Visoun, Luang Prabang’s oldest temple.

This bike ride can be tailored to your interests, taking place in either the town, or surrounding countryside.
