The wet season finishes in October, although you can still expect high temperatures, lots of sun, and lovely warm waters.
The Maldives has similar temperatures all year round, although the tropical monsoon climate means there’s a distinct wet season, which runs from May to October.
You can expect average highs of 86ºF (30ºC) in October. Don’t worry about bringing warm clothes, as evenings are balmy and it only cools to 77ºF (25ºC) at night. The sea temperature is a warm 82.4ºF (28ºC), which is perfect for relaxing in, while the humidity is high.
While tipping in the Maldives is not compulsory, it is appreciated as a gesture of gratitude for good service. Tips in the Maldives are usually given in cash and in USD, which is widely accepted. You can hand it directly to the person you're tipping.
Restaurants & Bars
- Service Charge: Most resorts and restaurants in the Maldives automatically add a 10% service charge to bills. This charge is shared among the staff, so additional tipping is not required but appreciated.

Packing for The Maldives is easy, and the essentials are sunscreen, sunglasses, sun hat, and beach attire. You may wish to bring a dry bag to keep items such as your phone protected should you be planning any water-based experiences.
You may wish to dress up for dinner in the evenings, but there is no strict dress code to adhere to.

On arrival at Velana International Airport, you will need to clear immigration and collect your baggage before coming out to the arrival hall, where a representative will be holding a HUMMINGBIRD TRAVEL sign.
You will then be escorted to your resort transfer. If you are unable to locate the representative, please proceed to Counter No. E 11.
